The Leafs might be more willing to let that first round pick go if they could work out a contract with Tanev. They don't want to lose the first round pick for a rental. Keep in mind that first round pick could be very low end first round.

I was thinking in terms of performance. 4 forwards getting paid over 10M, one would expect would be their top 4 offensive performers. Tavares is now on the 3rd line.
