guys, don't give in yet...

it has been a messed up season, that's for sure... even the penguins can beat carolina as evident of last night.

hope the olympic break does well for helping the nhl get reorganized.

i noticed leaf former 1st round draft pick Brad Boyes is having one helluva rookie season too! he's right behind Marek Svatos in scoring (4th rookie scoring) and it's too bad that he was let go so easily from the leafs.

Not bad. The games over half over and Eddie's only let in 4 so far.

I think the Leafs will do better than the Italian women did this afternoon. (16-0) Maybe I'll start fantasizing that I'm living in the 60's again when the Leafs were good.

HNIC - Saturday, February 11th

Rangers 4 - Leafs 2

Jagr scored another 2 goals making him the league leading goal scorer... something he has never been before in his career!

he is now one point behind Jari Kurri for second all time career points in the NHL for a European Player...

also to be noted: Bryan McCabe tied his season best goals scored tonight with his 17th... one more point and McCabe will tie his season best points total also!

it makes me wonder why isn't he resigned... perhaps he's gonna wait it out and ask for a trade if the leafs continue their downhill slide. why not? he's having an uncharacteristically great career year and it would be a shame to deny him going somewhere where he'll have a chance at Stanley. this move could be good for the leafs if done right. but still, i don't think anything will happen.

Overall I thought it turned into a big game.

let's face it...the leafs are down to the wire now, they don't look like they can make the playoffs...which is really shitty because on paper they should be alot better than Boston, Montreal and Atlanta. this seasoned quickly turned into one with expectations from JFergy jr. and the media of a team in the top 4 to one that would categorize a successful season by merely making the 8th spot in the playoffs... too bad 'cause the Eastern Conference is really weak when you get beyond 4th place.

McCabe is gifted. But fortunately he has a pivot point named Kaberle that for some unknown reason refuses to shoot and dishes it off to McCabe.

Christ, Kaberle could have as many points as McCabe if he only decided to shoot the puck!

Aside from that, Toronto will still be lucky to make the playoffs. I still see 10th or 11th (in the conference) as a very real possibility.

What bothers me is the damn Rangers. Before the lockout they were the highest paid bums in the entire hockey world.

Well, if you recall, they wised up during the last season of hockey. They traded away alot of their expensive players and now, not only that they have the draft picks and prospects from those trades, but they are currently among the elite teams in the east.

As I stated earlyer in another thread, a good team needs character and character builds chemestry. You can have an all star team and still not go far. Especially if the stars are pampered players that only think of their stats and do not care to support their teamates both in defence and offence.

Basically, Pittsburgh did the same mistake this year. Fortunately for them, it may only cost them 1 year; which is not bad since their are lousy enough to have a good chance at getting the number 1 pick overall again this year. They also traded for some picks and some young players. So, one can say that this year is nothing but a stepping stone to building a strong team for the future. That is, only if management does not screw up.

It's good to see the two week layoff didn't cause the Leafs to lose any of the momentum they had going in. It's like they didn't miss a beat.

Man they suck... big time

I guess the best thing they can do now is hope that some other team will be interested in some of their dead weight...

Hopefully get rid of some and pick up young useful prospects or draft picks. Start looking to next year. I hope they don't make the playoffs and dump Quinn the line changer.

That was awful.

Get rid of Allison, O'Neill, Berg, Belfour, Khavanov, Antropov, Domi....jesus they stink. Does anyone really want them to make the playoffs anyhow? They'd just get beat down in 4 games regardless of who they play.

..did you see Lindros on the bench, he had this look of" what am I doing here",its too bad Lindros could have been one of the greats, he will be out of the game within a couple of years. His parents meddling has really cost him.

There is plenty of bad to go around on this team and, as the trade deadline approaches, it is only going to get worse since the leafs can't buy themselves out of trouble and we really only have a few players that any other team would be interested in.

Team defense is probably the biggest problem, even our best pairing can be a real liability on any given night. The rest of the guys are rookies who may or may not have promise -- it's hard to tell since not a single one has a proven veteran he can be paired with to help him play through his mistakes.

As a leaf fan the only response one can have to the fact that this group has twenty plus games left to play this season is -- eeekkk!

At this stage I would trade Ken Klee for a corpse. It is probably a trade we could afford to make and still stay under the cap. While we wouldn't necessarily be upgrading the mobility of the defense we wouldn't be losing much either. On the plus side the corpse would probably take less stupid penalties and, depending on the age of the corpse, would probably be better at clearing the front of the net.

This is truly a woeful season for leaf fans when the best thing that has happened to us all year is that maybe Hasek got hurt.

You can't spot a team 2 goals in the first 10 mins of a game everytime you play them & expect to win.

The Leafs are playing a tired sloppy messy system and game.

Sundin
Steen
O'neil

and..

Lindros
Allison
Tucker

is my favorite 1 & 2 Punch. But as we all know after one bad game, win or lose, they all get the shuffle. Quinn should be a Blackjack dealer at Rama.

They've been doing it since 1967.

Yes, but a new coach and a tighter system would add some fire and strength. This is just a mess. They look like all they want to do is clutch and grab, but can't because of the new NHL rules.

Based on how the look on paper, this shoud not be going as bad as it is.

Other than the young kids on the team.. there is nobody else who can skate fast enough to catch the other team.

Allison is so slow you have to put a chalk mark down to see if he's moved.

Sundin looks like his mind is elsewhere.

O'Neil skates in circles all night.

Lindros looks lost (ok he hasn't played much).

Belfour couldn't stop a beachball with an ironing board...

I will stop now :(
