I like how Pat Quinn said before tonight's game that Washington is a real test...

test for what?

and what if the leafs lose?

guess the leafs aren't concerned about making the playoffs... they merely wanna beat the league's 4th worst team... for what end... to be 5th worst?

Quinn's known for speaking his mind, and I'm willing to bet that this is a hint of his confidence in this year's squad.

In the same interview, Quinn also noted that Montreal and Boston are tough competitors...? WTF>?

The Leafs are about where most experts figured they would be.
A 500 or so team fighting for a playoff spot.

Get real fans... this is all you can expect for this year.

Next year with the cap being increased we will see what JFJ is made of.

The new NHL is geared towards, scouting, coaching and management. Not being able to buy players the way the Leafs used to.

I predict the Leafs will go from Feb 11 to Feb 26 without one single loss !
I predict that you are wrong since the Leafs are playing the Rangers on the 11th of Feb. The break starts on the 13th.

Leafs won 4-1 over Atlanta Feb. 7th.

don't know what the media means they were missing for 'D' for tonight's game...

also, heard O'Neil is getting shipped out of dodge, or atleast available on the market... where to?... i don't know.

Sundin got cranked like i've never seen him get hit before. hey, maybe the leafs should try to get Exelby on their team in the future... yeah, like that would ever happen. Exelby's been doing this all over the league, a way better open ice hitter than Phaneuf, that's for sure!... funny how he didn't get many votes for nhl's hardest hitter... and where's all the leaf fans that complain about their not being any hitting in the new nhl?

and i don't know what ever happened to that thread... it's gone now.

That was quite the hit Sundin took tonight. I don't recall seeing that ever before. Another sign perhaps that he's lost a step? Too bad since he's always been a class act, hard worker and unselfish team player.

After the game Sundin said that the last time he was hit like this when he was 16 years old. Important win for the Leafs, Belfour was the first star of the game and $30 for parking near ACC is really too much

Did you hear that pussy Vaive on Leafs TV ??

...complaining that the hit on Sundin was dirty??..and intent to injure???...Give me a break, I'm a Leafs fan, but Sundin admitted he didn't see him coming (could the visor have anything to do with that??). He got caught with his head down, and the hit was totally clean, elbows down, and Sundin got rocked..one of the best hits I've seen in this soft league this year...Wish the Leafs could find a punishing defenseman like that..and as Pat Quinn said, find a few guys that could dish out as much as they were taking...this team needs a few grit players, hopefully the trade deadline will bring that..and Hartley is a crybaby..the hit on McCabe was totally from behind, and whether he gets up, or is taken out on a stretcher, the penalty was assessed as it should have been , 5 and a game..

I agree with you on the hit. It was a clean hit, he had his head down.

Similar to many checks thrown by Scott Stevens over his career.

I give Kilgar full marks for standing up for his teammate.

Sundin never got hit like that before because he played without a visor.

ok, kidding. this hit may have waken Sundin up. contrary to what most say about him, he's one of the leafs that are trying hard every night and still averaging almost 1point per game. and he isn't old like some on terb say either. he's only 34. pretty much the same age as the league's leading scorer... hardly over the hill.

..Sundin is the classic example of a guy who if he grew up in Canada may have been one of the best ever. He is huge, 6'4 235 or so and he can fly. I still remember his rookie year for the Nordiques, being a hab fan, I was scared every time he took the ice, he was awesome. Then the Petite dickhead screamed in his ear after they lost and Sundin never was the same after that loss to the Habs. It was like he did not want all the wieght on his shoulders. He reminded me of Gilbert Perrault the way he was flying. I thought like Perrault he was going to singlehandedly beat the Habs.
Oh I thought I would mention, Toronto is done this year, no character players save for Tucker, and he is a spaz.

Rangers look well prepped for the playoffs... and the Olympics too! (team Czech)

it was pretty funny to see not one Canadian or American born player on the ice for the rangers for the singing of the national anthems!

Rangers 4 - Leafs 2

Rangers can bring it, that's for sure... they even have quite a heavyweight enforcer duo in Colton Orr and Dale Purinton. definitely ready for when the going gets tough.

I am not back yet, and looks like I will be back toward the end of the season. I hope I am back for playoffs, if we make it.

21pro, thanks for keeping this thread going. I would have loved to do it if I was there, but I don't get any hockey coverage here at all. No NBA either. And even if there was it is not about the Raptors. :(

PHNINE, don't rush to make it back for the playoffs. The Leafs won't be in them.

Belfour is done.. he has 2 or 3 good games and then 2 or 3 bad ones... :(
