Grade 12 is the basic requirement. They have to set a minimum education level which was standard a generation ago. I have 2 nephews and godson in LE One is RCMP All have at least a College Degree (Police Foundations) The RCMP process took 2 years from start to finish and he has 2 Univ. Degrees. You dont see any 21 years coming on the job unless your Dept. has the old Cadet system. They want people with work, life experiences BEFORE applying The average rookie Police Officer is over 25 now. My nephews,Godson were late 20's early 30's when hired.

I knew a guy who joined the RCMP about 4-5 years ago. High school and 26 weeks in Saskatchewan, along with the other obvious requirements, but no where near 2 years.

I agree...the guy with the grade 12 may be eligible to apply but there are thousands of people applying for these jobs and the ones with just grade 12 can't compete with the testing and evaluations factoring against the maturity and higher education applicants.

What evidence you to support this?

BTW, I'm going to start referring to you as "nugget". Your like that last nugget that just won't go down the toilet.
That was easy, thousands of sites but I just picked out four...

Haha! Nugget, what a surprise. The “police foundations” website is suggesting you need to take their course.
The last site is simply saying “they SHOULD” have higher education. Probably supports the fact they currently don’t have enough education.

nice try nugget!

Agreed. Unfortunately that’s the way the Liberals and NDP want it to be.
So even with 10 years with Harper as PM, with the NDP having never been in power, you still blame the Libs and NDP. WOW!! Please explain. Was Harper secretly an NDP leader? Or Liberal?

Learn something: do not take every bad thing that happens to other people and minimize it by saying its not the worst thing that ever happened.

if its a small thing, somebody is whining about some idiotic small thing, fine. But two children get killed, do NOT denigrate the horror of what occurred by saying that worse things has gone on elsewhere.

OF COURSE worse things have happened. Somebody lost 3 kids. Somebody burned to death in a car accident. So what?

You just come across as a low-class moron when you argue like that.
Yes I know worse things happen. What I find is a joke, that many of the same people recoiling in horror from this are the same morons defending the bombing of children in Gaza. Maybe we should allow uncensored photos of broken childrens bodies so they can see what horror they are defending.

Holy smokes!

There are a whole slew of idiotic hot-takes in this 2 page thread.

Nottyboi is definitely #1 moron at the moment, though.

Yeah, because this thought process works very well in America. Lets under fund one of the most dsngerous jobs in a city which is becoming more and more violent as the years progress. Then we will mainly get shitty applicants who are more prone to corruption, and abuse of power... what could possibly go wrong.
Its not the most dangerous, that is utter bullshit. Not in Toronto.

Right, a 16 year old kid going to work driving a Mercedes?? Family must have been really poor. Give me a break. Also many 16 year olds do you know that drive a Mercedes. What a joke
Many upper middle class parents buy out their lease and give the car to their kids. Not at all expensive.

doubt it. Majority still get hired with a grade 12. You go through a series of test. Either you do well on them or you don't.
Wrong...majority of the cops have way way more education than a grade 12.
Maybe, but it's not required.

You either do well on the test, or you don't.
Just though I would review how you contradicted yourself...but I'll give you this, you did it quickly and easily.

@black booty lover ...way to ignore Waffler.
