Some masks better than others

So basically Mrs. Tam confirms I'm right.
The vast majority of masks people are wearing right now are insufficient.

So nice to be proven right again :D
What Tam said was the ABC's about masks, simple common sense & known months ago.

Define what it means for a mask to be "insufficient".

No mask is 100% sufficient.

Over 99% of masks being worn have significant effectiveness. They reduce infections & save lives.

If you want closer to 100% protection wear a hazmat suit 24 hours a day or move to the South Pole, lol.

As i posted elsewhere re the same, it is just common sense & something that many have been saying since months ago.

Of course 2 layers is better than 1 layer & 3 layers are better than 2 layers & 5 layers are better than 4 layers, etc.

Furthermore KN95 & medical-surgical type masks have been available in Canadian stores for a long time already.

Whats this??

https://thefederalist.com/2020/10/1...ity-of-people-getting-coronavirus-wore-masks/
You have so little understanding of science or reality. To bad that study includes people who , wore masks improperly, reused or didn't wash masks, frequently touched their masks, and people who lied about wearing masks (and the last one is a big one - after catching a contagious disease, how many people would admit to a doctor that they were stupid?).

Actual studies of particle flow through masks are 100% clear that any mask helps reduce the chances of infection with 3-ply polypro surgical masks and N95 reducing the transmission by a significant percent.

Not only are masks not working, new infection rate in Ontario is actually getting much worse now.
1,328 new cases today, and its not even Flu season yet:

This video quite clearly explains your sense of logic.

Your "factors" really are a red herring to distract from what is actually happening
There is no "random" community transmission
Majority of cases are being spread between friends and family
Which means lockdown or no lockdown is irrelevant on curtailing spread (as are masks since vast majority do not wear around people they know)

Whether said social circle happens at grandmas home or whether they all eat out at a restaurant the results are same
Only diff is how it is being reported

Masks are a pointless distraction and even Tam herself has now revised criteria for a "safe" mask to a 3 layer with filter

Fact is majority of people have had Covid
You can see from how few people are dying (compared to initial outbreak) as those who would have died anyways have already died off and most healthy people recover from Covid quickly
By random community transmission I am sure you mean there is no transmission in malls, restaurants, bars, schools, gyms, and so on.
As for red herring learn what the definition of terms are before you use them.
Lockdowns absolutely do have an affect on the rate of infections, and so do masks, unfortunately people like you regardless of how many times these scientific facts are proven to them will go and find some looney tune to listen to and use his anecdotal evidence as the oppoiste.

No they dont. Our 2nd wave in Ontario is much worse. Masks clearly arent making any difference

Not one bit correct masks were mandated in July, most businesses that were open prior had already wide use of masks enforced way before and started re opening since the end of May and June across Ontario with all of Ontario being in phase 3 by mid July.
The number of cases did not start to go up until 2 months later and skyrocket until roughly 3 months later due to other significant factors which you have very little understanding of.

Their is no direct corelation between mandates of masks and number of cases increasing in Ontario, unless one "Stable Genius" is trying to claim the increase in cases roughly 3 months later is due to use or mandate of masks.

Look at the post right after yours
Miss Croft beat me to the response

Mind you I even posted the article on main page (there only are like 10 active threads) so if you actually cared it was easy enough to fact check on your own
I find most of the covidiots enjoy living in their bomb shelters without bothering to even read news though
Give me a quote that says "Masks don't work", not which ones work better.

You are ignorant on the meaning of "covidiot" which extrapolates to the topic as a whole.

Macmillian Dictionary defines “covidiot” as “an insulting term for someone who ignores health advice about COVID-19." Urban Dictionary takes a pretty similar approach, defining “covidiot” as “someone who ignores the warnings regarding public health or safety. A person who hoards goods, denying them from their neighbors.”

Now you're just making excuses.
Fact remains (as Dr. Tam says) most masks worn by people in Toronto right now are not effective.
Exactly what I've been preaching over the last couple of weeks

Wrong on all counts. You can't even read a graph properly, and you have no comprehension of incubation periods

Where does Tam say that? The words "effective" and "insufficient" did not appear in my search of the article you referred to:

As usual your posts are full of so much evidence proving otherwise :ROFLMAO:.
Here are the facts non essential businsses started reopening mid May, there was already widespread use of masks in businesses when they reopened, and in the province we were in stage 3 in early to mid July.
We did not start to see a significant increase in cases (upward trend) until mid September and we did not see a skyrocketing of cases until late September-early October, again all of these are explained due to other factors but as usual you have a lack of understanding of scientific facts and data.

Everyone other than you can see it wasn't "almost immediately skyrocketing of cases" like you claimed or what you claimed after to be 4-6 weeks later, it was over 12 weeks later cases started skyrocketing. Of course your reading of a graph is quite different than everyone else.

lol what?
Red Herring = info that is intended to be misleading or distracting
So um yeah pretty much on the nose

Lockdowns have not in any way prevented or reduced transmission
We are setting record highs right now DESPITE Peel (and Toronto) being in the "red zone" for lockdowns and tons of shit closed

Science is even on our side (finally) as we yelled for months a paper / cloth mask was useless and now even CDC / Health Canada / WHO have updated guidelines (Canada of course as always being last)

Ontario sets a new record today with 1,388 cases:

But but how??? They have their masks. And their social distancing. And their lockdowns.

You would think by this point even the densest Covidiot would have figured out the ridiculous guidelines are absurd

You know what this entire scenario reminds me of?
You know that kids story The Emperors New Clothes?
Tell me that does not describe Emperor Trudope to a T

Covid has basically run its course you can see how few people are even going to hospital much less dying worldwide these days

But what about Belgium and Spain. :ROFLMAO:
Step 1 go to google.com
Step 2 type "non medical mask"
Step 3 enjoy
You said that Tam and the CDC said uncategorically that masks don't work. I can't find those quotes.
