Lockdowns have not in any way prevented or reduced transmission
That's as ignorant as saying quarantines "have not in any way prevented or reduced transmission".

We are setting record highs right now DESPITE Peel (and Toronto) being in the "red zone" for lockdowns and tons of shit closed
Schools open, covidiots abound, etc. Infections do not increase for no reason or due to ghosts, lol. But due to unsafe behaviour increasing, etc.

Science is even on our side (finally) as we yelled for months a paper / cloth mask was useless and now even CDC / Health Canada / WHO have updated guidelines (Canada of course as always being last)
Nonsense. Masks save lives & the health authorities know this. It's based on science & is just common sense.

Here we go. From the CDC today, an unequivocal declaration TODAY regarding masks. Masks protect both the wearer as well as those around them. (As reported by the NYT)

Breaking from its tentative recommendations on mask use thus far, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Tuesday that using masks benefits wearers, which is a step beyond its previous declaration that said wearing masks would only protect those around them.

“Experimental and epidemiological data support community masking to reduce the spread” of the virus, the C.D.C. said in a document that details scientific evidence supporting mask use. “Individual benefit increases with increasing community mask use,” it said.

The unequivocal statements are a departure from the agency’s previous language, which suggested that “the latest science may convince” Americans to wear masks and that mask use could prevent an infected person from spreading the virus to others. “The main protection individuals gain from masking occurs when others in their communities also wear face coverings,” it said.

Discussion is over.

Real science has been dealing with viruses for over 100 years and with Influenza viruses for almost as long. The scientists know about effectiveness and benefits of wearing masks. Medical masks have been around for more then 100 years too, its not NEW science! The triple layer cotton mask with a pocket for a filter that they are promoting now is called an Olson mask. It was invented by a nurse Lyla Mae Olson, in 1930.

The BS that they are telling us about not having to wear masks at first then that masks are not there to protect you but to protect others and now that yes they protect you as well is nothing more than BS!

Only a complete idiot would believe that what they are telling us now is based on any real science.

It's not easy to deal with idiots.

1,500 new cases today. A new Ontario record:

"Some form of lockdown 'inevitable' in Ontario as COVID-19 cases hit new high, doctor warns":

..."We are seeing a growth in cases and we are starting to see a pinch on the health-care system now and that's a big problem and you just can't have a sustained rate of 1,000 plus new cases per day and not expect this to cause major problems in terms of health and the health-care system."

On Tuesday, Premier Doug Ford told reporters that he can't rule out another lockdown for all of Ontario, similar to what Manitoba just announced.

Are you now claiming that in the month after masks were mandated, Ontario';s cases dropped significantly?
I'm claiming the exact opposite. New cases have skyrocketed since then

The science is clear. Look at the videos of studies where man repeats the same sentence with different masks, and infrared camera shows the difference in droplets expelled, and distance traveled.

N95 is 95% effective for the size of the virus for the wearer and others around him/her.

Next is the so-called blue medical mask. Then the cloth masks and least effective the elastic thinner masks.

The reason masks don't work is so many people refuse to wear them as well as social distance and to avoid crowds. All work together as the only hope for at least another six months before widespread vaccines can get to enough people for herd immunity if proven effective.

The lastest front-runner Pfizer, has to be stored at -70C And takes two shots. It will be a distribution nightmare. Only the largest urban hospitals can afford ultra-cold freezers that cost $US10,000-15.000 each.

The initial report of 90% effectiveness is based on what 44k first results and 10% of those that had the placebo (non-vaccine) got infected vs. none of those that got the vaccine. But what about other factors? How much both groups exposed themselves to risky situations etc. The CDC requirement for approval is only 50% effective. So herd immunity will take at least until mid-2021 or more likely 2022 even if effective (50%+ efficiency) is proven.

Think about this

We have way more cases now, in every city, province, state than at the "height" of the so called pandemic

Back in March to July we ALL walked around mask free
We ALL shopped indoors mask free
We ALL ate indoors and got drive thru mask free
Fuck at start of pandemic (March) public health (Tam, Canada, WHO, etc) even said person to person transmission was unlikely so there was very little social distancing as kids still went to school and parents still worked

Depending which city you lived in mask bylaws start anywhere from late August to early November
Now even ignoring a small group of non compliant (because logic says the number of non complaints will always be less than the summer totals when 100% of people did not wear masks)
How can anyone with even a half functional brain think the masks are doing anything at this point???

If you're wondering why infections skyrocketed in later summer and early fall, here's your most likely answer:

If you're wondering why infections skyrocketed in later summer and early fall, here's your most likely answer:

That strain of the C-19 virus was around, flourishing & dominant long before the "later summer and early fall":

"Data from a study published last month shows a spike of the G strain in Europe at the start of February, followed by another resurgence of the G variant a fortnight later.

By the start of March, cases of D614G were spotted around the world and this specific mutation made up around a quarter of all cases.

It continued to take over and constituted more than 70 per cent of all cases by May, and the number is now thought to exceed 85 per cent."

In North America it was 100% dominant by May or June.
