Getting votes is the primary goal in any election.
A large percentage of the people who don't want trans women in women's sports didn't vote for Trump, for any of a number of reasons. By signing an Executive Order about this early in his current mandate, Trump has fulfilled THAT campaign promise. If some other governing body overturns his decision, they can deal with the consequences, if any, the next time that their continuing employment is decided by public opinion on a ballot.
if lefties really cared about women’s sports, they would have prioritised the benefits of healthy exercise, the thrill of competition, the pride of accomplishment, the character building from being part of a team and the beauty of just having fun playing sports.

Trans issues were determined to be a good wedge issue/moral panic to whip up, and since the "evil Trans in the bathroom" ploy didn't work well, they pivoted to "trans women in sports" because it has a superficial veneer of "fairness" and "protecting women" that sold better.

It really depends on the sport. I'm not sure why you are making blanket statements.
It would probably behoove the crowd upset by Trump's action to start differentiating on the issue.
It's likely the IOC will move to ban athletes who have undergone make puberty from women's Olympic sports.
Some of this crowd is not strong in differentiating issues, so let me help you.
Your beef should be with the President getting involved with deciding this issue instead of athletic governing bodies. That would be a valid beef, but those here advocating for transgender athletes in women's sports are fighting and feigning for a losing cause. This even though a few progressive members have idealistic views of being part of a cause that will inevitably find change with social attitudes. You know that crowd. They aren't wrong. They're on the right side of history.)

The EO will be rescinded in the future and will be challenged in court and most likely get blocked just like the trans male prisoner EO got blocked.
It can also not be enforced at the local level.
But if the optics will get you to sit down, then great.

If the 80% want the 20% to be hurt in some way, democratic principles suggest you side with the 20%.
Otherwise it is majoritarianism.
