Playoffs are different than the regular season. McCauley made at least three bad calls, against the Leafs last night. Hopefully, McCauley won't be the ref in anymore games, in this Leaf/Lightning, playoff series!!
Let's inject some reality... Toronto playoff games officiated by Wes McCauley since 2017:

Terrible call by McCauley in game 7 of last year's series.

Lol - now I have a feeling you're just pulling my leg; that's ridiculous and you're demonstrating your pro-Toronto bias.

That was classic interference, if Holl hadn't skated over to body check the Tampa player marking Tavares then Tavares would never have been able to skate unmolested to scoring position in front of the net.

It was textbook interference and the referee appropriately whistled it down even before Tavares shot the puck.

Please watch that video again - it's a textbook example of where it's important to make an interference call because it led directly to a scoring chance.

We say that every year lol. I'll have faith..... but if they lose, I quit being a fan for life. It was a real struggle to stay engaged ever since that Montreal series 2 years ago.

That loss to Montreal after being up 3-1 was the lowest point I've ever felt being a Leafs fan. I boycotted the first 10 games the next season out of disgust. But I can't just turn off my Leaf fanship at the flip of a switch.

Knies in. That upgrades the 3rd line with O'Rielly.
Leafs are one injury/suspension away from dressing Simmonds or the other RW Timmins

Whoever wrote this is very much misinformed. Didn't even come close to getting the facts straight.

IMHO, it was a very rarely made "pick and roll " call. Even Craig Simpson, the SN announcer, said it was a very "borderline" call.
Holl was just standing there, and the Tampa player, ran into him.
We need another reality check.... give me the precise time in that video where the Leafs announcer says it was a "borderline call".

Simpson does say "there's the pick right there and it opens up a lane for Tavares to put it in, but it's not gonna count.."

The referee making the call wasn't even the one you're villainizing; it was Eric Ferlatt, who I guess is also in on the league conspiracy against the Leafs?

To your credit I expected you to argue that Bunting was just standing there minding his own business yesterday when a Tampa player rammed his face into Buntings elbow...

Very true. Oilers killed with Grant Fhur and Detroit dominated with Chris Osgood. You don't need the greatest goalie, just good enough to keep you in the game...if you have an excellent team. Leafs need a goalie of the Hasek caliber. Controversial penalties or not, Leafs lost the game in the first period because they simply didn't show up. They were soft, slow and without a game plan. It's only a game 1, but if they won't catch on fire, they're not going deep this year.

The real reason why the Leafs lost is Gary Bettman. It is rumoured he decreed the only Canadian team to win the Cup or play in the Cup finals is Montreal.

The Next game with the fan favorite Wes McCauley.
In summary and just to set the record straight:
- the reason it's alleged that Wes McCauley has a personal vendetta against the Leafs is that Sheldon Keefe once had a third cousin twice removed who lived next door to a girl who might have maybe dated Wes MacCauley in high school and cheated on him with his best friend so yeah, OF COURSE he's gonna call more penalties against the Leafs. If we lose, that's why... it's obviously a league conspiracy. If we win then the refs were good and fair.

In the last 19 playoffs, Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa, Edmonton and Vancouver have played in the Cup Final.
Only one exception from the list (that has played all of those 19 years in Canada)

He must have heard it from some talking head on the radio and somehow believed it to be true.

The Math speaks for itself.

Since 1967, The Azzurri have contested seven International Championships and won four. The Leafs who have the advantage of an annual tournament...

Too bad the NHL doesn't have a salary cap for the playoffs. Yeah, yeah, the players don't get a salary for the playoffs. They do it for free.

Peter Forsberg played in 26 regular season games in 3 of his seasons but played 32 playoff games. Was it his plan to basically skip the regular season and only play in the playoffs?

Ok, which Canadian team will make it to the Cup finals or better still win the Cup this year?

Oilers and Leafs with all their superstar forwards?

If Edmonton advances (likely) and Toronto doesn't (again likely), can Auston Matthews play for Oilers ? Its not a trade. He's near end of contract. Can Oilers sign Auston ? Will be a great help to Edmonton. After all there's no salary cap in playoffs. He might as well if TO gets eliminated. I've heard of teams signing other players during the playoffs. I am not aware of any rules that would prevent this from happening.
