I believe someone is trying to say Montreal was robbed of the cup.
They instituted the new crosschecking rule the following season so we all know how Montreal got to the Finals that year.

I was watching/ listening to the radio/TV to-day. The talking heads are saying this is a meaner tougher version of a Leaf team.

"One of the biggest criticisms of Kyle Dubas has been his teams have too much skill and not enough size, too much finesse and not enough fight. The general manager addressed that in the offseason by signing some bigger and meaner players." I've been saying this since 2019.

Playoff hockey is about bring your game a notch or two up, determination, physicality, intensity, discipline and sacrifices. As bad as the Lightning have played in the regular season, if there’s a team that has the ability to flip a switch and get into a higher gear, the Lightning would no doubt be very capable of doing just that. They still have some of the best players from goalie, d man to forwards.

With that said, I’m reasonably confident that the Leafs’ forwards (particularly the top six ) will produce enough to win this series but the two key guys in the back will be Samsonov and Reilly. They have to be at least steady and not become the reasons why they lose.

We say that every year lol. I'll have faith..... but if they lose, I quit being a fan for life. It was a real struggle to stay engaged ever since that Montreal series 2 years ago.

Someone is taking talking heads like Jeff O'Neill and running with it.
The series against Columbus could have went either way. It was that close. Muzzin got injured and that was the end of it.
The series with Montreal could have went either way. It was that close. Leafs scored more goals in fact and were up 3 to 1. Lost OT goals in games 5 and 6. Tavares injured, Foligno injured. Muzzin injured again and didn't play game 7.
The series with TB could have went either way. It was that close. Even in almost everthing including total goals. Their 4th line consisted of Clifford and Simmonds. Big, heavy, bangers. They were terrible. How many more of them do you need for your proof?
Before that they were underdogs to heavy underdogs and Kadri was suspended for both of them vs Boston.

It's laughable for that someone to bring up his old thread and proclaim victory because some talking head said so.
More than anything they lost because they lacked depth. Bringing in Marincin is not depth. Hence why they added 3 defensemen this year and signed Knies. Another reason would be their PP. Excellent in the regular season and terrible in the playoffs.

... and O'Rielly is not a banger. He is a skill player. 5 hits in 13 Leaf games.

Nylander's points this year are a red herring. Yes, his overall game is better/more consistent this season. He has indeed set up/scored a small handful of really nice goals. But he's the master at piling up meaningless points in meaningless games, which is how we got to this false impression his game has gone to the next level just in time for the playoffs. I still see him only weakly stick checking opponents, going on lone rushes where he rags the puck uselessly then gives up the puck without creating a scoring chance, going for a long skate or immediately coasting off to the bench when he does give up the puck instead of stopping and going right back after it. Now it feels like he's pissed that he's again moving down the depth chart, playing with weaker players instead of the team's stars. Won't be surprised if he once again essentially disappears as a consistently effective player against much tougher teams in the first round.
You’re making that up…Nylander was the Leafs leader in even strength goals and points and overtime winners…his goals and points were just as important as anybody else’s.

I had the sense that Bunting would do a Kadri, dumb penalty, looks like Bunting will have a hearing with the NHL. If I was Keefe I would sit Bunting for the rest of the series.

Leafs down 4 heading into the 3rd. Time to send a statement.

I want to see them goon it up. Marner and Nylander need to pound the snot out of Maroon and Hedman. Soften them out for the rest of the series.

Is it possible for someone on the radio to be a talking head?
It's sad when some blindly defend the losing culture of this organization. There's a reason and an excuse for everything. Year after year. Nothing to do with the lack of physical play in front of their own net. It's nothing but a constant short end of the stick/bad luck of the draw. Annoying.... but funny.

.....but hey, if they win, I will be jumping right on that bandwagon. Lol.

I love physical hockey but that bunting hit is just plain dirty and dangerous. He deserves the book thrown at him.

I don't understand how David Frost's brother-in-law (who he's very close with) is allowed to ref a game against one of Frost's arch enemies in Sheldon keef.

Seems like some kind of conflict of interest.

Are you being sarcastic?
My Grandmother and her friend down the street would hold their own against them. If you let them get a kitchen knife then the Leafs would have 18 million to play with next year.

Bunting is a puke, that will never back up his play. i think he gets at least 2 games. Bruce Boudreau your new next coach. i think there is a few on here that would agree.
