Ducks were 32nd in the league defensively and they're only bringing back 1 of their 6 starting defensemen from last year.
They let 5 go and the Leafs have picked up two of them, so they'll have more of the Ducks blue line from last year than the Ducks do.
They were at the "Low Goals For, High Goals Against" end of the spectrum.
But if the Leafs can sub Benoit in for someone more expensive that'll help with their cap situation.
I like it. He dished out over 200 hits last season. The Leafs should be a much tougher team to play against in 2023-24.
I know nothing about this guy, but if he's making $750K/year then he must be mediocre at best.
This picture confirms that the Leafs have always been a beer league team....
Remember him well as a solid defenceman for a young and dynamic Minnesota North Stars team in the late 70's/ early 80's. Sad.
Brad Maxwell went to the Stanley Cup Final with the North Stars in 1981, solid defenseman. He was never going to achieve that with the Larfs, not in a billion years.

Colorado, today, is set to open the season with only 525K cap space.
Nashville, Buffalo, Chicago, and Anaheim are the only teams with space to take on his current 6.9M cap hit.
Detroit and Columbus could make it work depending on who they give up in return.

Leafs are over the cap on their 23 man roster by $2,147,283. Add in Nick Robertson on IR and its $2,943,950.
I see no way to get under it without moving Nylander before the season starts.
