I ran into Chris Johnston (hockey insider) who lives in my area DT, had a brief chat and he said the Leafs are looking to change the goal song. What should the new Leafs goal song be?

Heard on the radio that Matthews will be doing some PK duty this year. I'm not convince he has the talent to be a good penalty killer.

Leafs are over the cap on their 23 man roster by $2,147,283. Add in Nick Robertson on IR and its $2,943,950.
I see no way to get under it without moving Nylander before the season starts.
I think there are a number of ways:
- Could be an injury then LTIR
If no injury.
- You don't need to carry 23 players like Cap Friendly is currently doing ... you can carry 20 and bury some money. For example once you demote Martin Jones I don't think his contract counts against the cap because it is league minimum (stand to be corrected)
- Trade Calle Jarnkrok with combo of above gets you there.
It's worth a try. We know he's a good back-checker and he's a serious offensive threat. It might just work. Teams would definitely have to be more careful with him out there. He has a knack for stripping the puck off of opponents. If not, you see if someone else is a better fit.
I didn't realize that you could get away with having 20. OK that makes it easier. Yes Jones should be demoted, he's garbage.
FD has the Leafs opening game promo, at the moment it's Leafs ( +9.5 ) vs Habs & for every 1,000 bettors, FD will add 1 in the Leafs favor. Will probably end

Leafs trade Lafferty for 5th round pick, freeing up some cap space. Martin Jones placed on waivers.
If Samsonov and Woll falter, there will be criticism for cutting Jones. Apparently, he had a very good pre-season and Tampa might pounce on him.
Malgin and Robertson in a previous year had great pre-seasons. Doesn't mean much. It's not real competition and it's only a few games. Both Detroit and Toronto played their AHL lineup for their road games in their final two.
I find it funny that Chicago with Petr Mrazik and Foligno beat Kyle Dubas' Penguins.
