I wouldnt blame him.

The game should have never have gotten to that. They completely dominated in the 3rd period. Dipietro was just on fire tonight with some of those saves.

They outshot them 41-20 or something...

The Leafs really miss

..Tucker and Wellwood for the shootout...not that I am sure their SO records are that great..they jsut bring more skill...something needed in a shootout

...Gotta say Sundin is getting better at it..nice SO goal on Sat.

the Leafs played for 1 period tonight...and got away with it agaisnt a bad Philly team that took an emotional haymaker with the Forsberg trade

They better play a lot better on Saturday. The Oilers are going to be extremely desperate ...they better bring that 1st period all game or its gonna be a long night

Sorry, nothing really Leafslike about this post, but- I just want to post here to say I am happy to be back in town...

Finally, I'm back from my lengthy biz trip to Los Angeles. I had stopovers in Kansas City, Tucson, St. Louis and Nashville.

I have gain a greater understanding of NHL hockey from Gary Bettman's point of view.

It just isn't exciting to Americans when Canadian teams come down to play US teams. For Americans in general, a rivalry means something more when it is against a regional US competitor. Canadians really don't matter much to Americans- especially in states that don't border along the Canadian border. (my guess is that we don't cause enough trouble for them) On the other hand, Every American seems to have a comment to make about Mexicans...

Back to NHL.... In this regard, Kansas City, Tucson, Las Vegas, Amarillo, Oklahoma City, Houston would all make good markets to expand the NHL product.

I read in LA that by 2010, there will probably be 4 to 6 new teams in the NHL. You can bet some of these cities are candidates.

Another BTW... At a resort I stayed at for a few nights in Colorado, they had a skating rink in the middle of the resort... a frozen over pond... they didn't allow hockey sticks or pucks on the ice. the 1st 2 days there, the rink was never really too busy, mostly a family would go skate for a few laps until a kid fell and started crying or someone's feet got cold... i convinced the owner to allow hockey to be played on the rink and the owner agreed to 'give it a try'... since i was already driving to Denver for the day, I agreed to pick up a bulk order of sticks and balls, for a fee, of course ;) Anyways, i woke up the next morning and looked out my window to the pond below to see a rinkful of people with a good game of shinny going on... it was awesome... i quickly ran down (to collect my royalties..J/K)... and joined in on the fun.

My point- Hockey is a great sport and is meant to be shared by newcomers to the game all around the world.
On my next trip to San Diego, I'll work on selling the road hockey concept!

JFJr said today that he's looking to beef up the offence and grittiness on the team... didn't mention anyone.. but he also added that he has chips to play with on the blueline. sounds like someone could be gone packing...

nice to see a GM let us in on some hints... :)

Holy fucking Bah Geeeesus people....give up already! NOBODY but you losers are interested in the Maple Laffs Sports "Entertainment" losers! Why don't you all start cheering for another team like Ottawa or Edmonton or Vancouver or even the Habs. What a pathetic lot you are...the Laffs deserve you as their fans.

(Oh yeah BTW....Fergie Jr does NOT give a rats fucking ass about you. Get Over It!)

You know what? I agree with you 100%. he won't do anything monumental, and yet, he'll defend his stance even though right now he is saying there is some issues that need to be addressed.

fuckin' liar he is....

well... here's to hoping otherwise.

you know, I used to support McCabe but lately, I'd bench him until he gets his head on straight. Don't know what his problem is but he's playing like a rookie.....

The announcers tonight were saying what an exciting game. Oh yeah, it was exciting, seeing the Leafs make error after error after error. I mean they are LUCKY the score wasn't 5 zip.....

What's with the disallowed goal that would've made it 3-1 Leafs....there was no explanation from the refs.

No need to insult rookies. There are plenty of rookies that are making positive contributions to their teams.

McCabe just isn't a good player. Terrible hockey sense, lack of speed and poor lateral movement are his and the Leafs problems.

Ponikorovsky interfered with teh goaltender..nto enough to warrant a penalty, but enough to disallow the goal in the ref's opinion...an unintentional interference in the ref's view..but enough for him to make a judgement under an obscure rule...BOGUS !!!

The goal that didnt count was the leafs just getting Kerry Fraisered (don't know spelling) again.

Poni was pushed into the goalie by the goalies own player WTF that's not goalie interference that's the goalies own team being stupid.

Even though the game was on Sportsnet it was the TSN Turning Point.

Let's not forget the trip on sundin in overtime. I mean, they call a hooking penalty the second a stick touches the upper body but blatant trips?

Naw, can't call that, it might determine the outcome of the game!

I was watching a sports centre type show once and the talking heads said: If you really want to see whether officiating is bad or not, watch a game where you don't care who wins. That way you won't be biased one way or the other.

I did this. Watched a Calgary/Edmonton game. YOu know what? The officiating SUCKS....
