Don't forget about Buffalo

..like six teams trying for 2 spots...don't see Atlnata or Pittsburgh dropping out of their spots now..especially with the players both teams obtained at trade deadline...so you got 7th through 12th trying to be in the # 7 or 8 spot at the end of all this...Montreal seems to be in trouble...some locker room dissention goin on with Kovelev(sp) comments...Carolina will turn it around...one spot, and 5 teams trying to get it...so it may be real tough for the Leafs, especially since they seem to have the toughest schedule of the teams in the hunt...looks like tonight is their only shot at points...back to back against Ottawa??....not looking good

Two more games against the Sabres too ...

seeing they play washington, it should be a given win as washington is very considerably weaker since the trade deadline and have been tanking since.

Not really too tough of a schedule for the leafs for the remainder of the season, 6 of the games remaining are against teams NOT EXPECTED to make the playoffs. sure they play the Sabres 2x's and Devil's once, other than that every team is middle of the pack or 6 games against equal or weaker teams.

...of the games left, only the rematch with the Caps, a game against the Rangers...and a game agaisnt the Flyers, are with teams that are out of the playoff picture...even the Rangers may still have a shot. The rest of the games are against teams ahead of them in the standings. The Leafs will have to garner 23 more points to be safely in the playoffs...that's 10 wins and 3OT losses...leaves very little room for error..and when you figure their luck is not good in the regular season against the Sens and Sabres...wow..that means they need to almost run the table agains the Isles, Pens,Thrashers, Habs and Canes..no small order at all..

If the Leafs can manage to win 11 games out of the remaining 15, chances are they will be in the playoffs. Even winning 10 games may get them in. No team is perfect. The Senators and the Sabres are beatable. The Senators have lost three in a roll, one to the bottom feeder the Chicago Blackhawks. It is a matter of how bad the Leafs want to win, how determine they are, and how much they master the force.

yes, i remember PM making the promiss to get Sundin's ice time up to +25minutes.

(maybe he was thinking of Overtime hockey only???)

but, my guess is Sundin can't handle more ice time.

My solution to the Pittsburg problem is this:
Sell the Penguins to MLSE and move them to Toronto and rename the team the Maple Leafs.

Then sell the original Leafs team to a US buyer and move them to Kansas City or Las Vegas or wherever they want to go and make sure they sell the leafs brand name to the new team before the door bangs them on their way out the door.

That way everyone's happy.

Crosby, MA Fleury, et al. would never want to play for Toronto anything.

guyroch is right- we need a goalie that can steal every game.

allowing 40 shots while only getting 29 shots for isn't exactly a recipe for success for any team...

but, in no way is this Raycroft's fault. he is still in the better half of starter goalies in the league. rather, he doesn't have a team that can be there for him and help him out for once.

considering this was a road game and for what is left for games, this is as easy as it gets for the leafs to face the Sens this season. a both hot and kinda slumping Sens for that matter. (hot since Jan. 1st- cold recently with just this 1 win in the last 4 games)

under 15 games remaining now and yet another 0 pointer.

way out in left field
I had to stop watching, couldn't bear to keep watching that train wreck. They were out played, out efforted, didn't get ANY of the lucky breaks and wtf was the ref doing on the penalty that caused the third goal? Fuck me they are so damn quick to call interference penalties they miss high sticks etc.

I mean seriously folks, how can the same team gel and kick ass one night and then play like junior B the next?

PS- I love Colaiacovo and White's play so there is some positive to take out of this for the future.

Your saying their are 16 goalies that Raycroft is better then .. ??
no. 15. and yes, because he's middle of the pack it IS subject to debate. lol

but, excuse me for saying this- there are alot of 2nd string goalies better than Raycroft.

to be top 10 in minutes (actually #6) league overall and on a below .500 team with a better win percentage than your back-up is enough statistical evidence to prove it's not Raycroft's fault.

GR- i don't argue the stats on Raycroft, but what i am trying to say makes sense. the way the stats work tell a real true story if you look at them correctly.

almost like how a company that shows no profits, probably a loss can still be a growing company and still a great investment, sord of...

ah fuck... i just made things more complicated... sorry.

1. yes. you are correct. the rangers have a better shot than the Leafs
2. when you are in the bottom half of your conference, you better bet a good shake of change would be games against teams higher up in the standings than the leafs. that doesn't make things tough. alot of these teams are beatable at best. so far only the Sabres and the Devils show real resilience.

Ottawa 1 win in the last 4.
Lightning 3 losses in their last 5
Capitals falling off of the radar
Canadiens ditto
Devils probably this years Eastern Conference playoff champion
Sabres the other best candidate for ECPC
Hurricanes probably won't make playoffs
Thrashers streaky- by the time leafs play them again, they should be at their bottom cycle where they suck
Penguins also streaky
Rangers in the same boat as the leafs
Flyers will give the leafs a W
Islanders also in the same boat as the leafs just slightly ahead in the standings.

10+ wins is definitely a possibility for the leafs here on in. let's see what happens.

The Leafs do not have a strong enough defense or goaltending to pull off 10+ wins out of their last 14, get real.

And what does it matter. IF they made the first RD of the playoffs, they would just get bitch-slapped by the Sabres. Their speed and offence would leave the Leafs defense completed f*cked.

I bet the Sabres are praying the Leafs make the playoffs so they get a bye in the first RD and save energy for the Cup run.

Leafs don't have enough firepower on forward lines.
An aging Mats Sunding, Darcy Tucker, Jeff O'Neill, - that's not gonna scare anyone.

keep in mind the Carolina Hurricanes were the oldest team in the Eastern Conference last season and won the cup with that.
