Mike Peca suffers: a torn MCL ligament in his right knee and has a fractured right tibia.
...good enough to shelf him for a year, quite possibly longer.

it never ends.

and of course, our only goal scorer is no longer... Tucker, has slowed down his pace to only 3 goals in his last 13 games... (heck, if he keeps this pace up, he'll get his predicted 24 on the season)

I guess the slightly silver lining is that it opens up cap room.

Maybe Allison can be the centre on their checking line.

Peca was actually an affordable signing, though. Not much cap room would open up, but, he definitely needs to be replaced for the interim... did you see the PK tonight?

what a fuckin' crazy night. i'm in Pittsburgh right now- here for New Years and have partial season tickets for the Pens. anyways, i got a beer dumped down my autographed crosby jersey, which led to a fight during the 1st period, got kicked out and ended up in ca-hunthair away from going to jail. funny thing, though, the guy i punched out was from Canada too- but he had a leafs sweater on...

i didn't even get to enjoy the game. i guess it wasn't that bad as i was fearing spending all of new years weekend behind bars... not to mention the future record that coulda prevented me from crossing the border in the future.

anyways- i guess i wished someone here would give me the update on the game, i checked nhl.com, looks like it was another bad PK night for the leafs and looks like they were very undisciplined (like myself)... i see on the scoresheet Ondrus fought Ruutu- how'd that go? Ruutu isn't much of a scrapper. My guess is Benny dropped him quick and made a mess of him. Anyone?

i'll have to be on better terms come Tuesday night when the Pens play the Hurricanes...

PS- you all don't have to tell me how stupid i am for wearing my autographed sweater to the game... i got it!

If you were in fact in a scrap at the game, I think you were mentioned in the broadcast. I could be wrong, but I recall hearing something about people getting thrown out for fighting. In any case, sounds like a great experience and a hell of a story to tell. BTW, I hope you wont he fight. :)

don't think that was me on tsn- i was directly behind the Pens bench (2nd row from glass- IGLOO seats)... though, i did get Michel Therrien's attention when the guy fell into the plexiglass behind him.. lol.. but, anyways, i heard there was also a brawl across in the leafs end in the 1st. a bunch of security apparently went rushing in for that one and closed off the whole section.

my fight didn't last long.. hardly a fight. but, hey- the goal is to end it quickly ;)... i wouldn't have done anything but i was sooo pissed that i got beer on my prized possession. guess i lost it sorda... anyways it sucked gettin' kicked out (been a long while since that's happened)

i didn't get to see the fight on the ice, i was already out in the parking lot talkin with the sheriff's dept... so i guess that wasn't me mentioned on tsn.

and i think the sweater is going to be ok... i hand washed it in the hotel room very delicately and it's almost dry now.

hockey jerseys are the absolute best to scrap in... except when they're autographed by the first teenager in NHL history to lead the league in scoring.

fight strap in an off ice fight could be scary... that would just leave the oponent an open door to tie ya up really silly... lol...

anyways... i just got back in town. 9pm wednesday.

Seeing the Pens beat Carolina was a much, much faster paced game than the one the other night between the Leafs and the Pens. and no more fighting for me... lol.

FYI- both games in Pittsburgh sold out. Met a few Canadians at the Carolina game, including the Staal Family from Thunder Bay.

sorry for the waaay off topic post... but, i don't even know what's going on in leafland... all i heard down in Pittsburgh on FSN radio was that Toronton desperately needs to make a big trade soon... did anything materialize???

JFJ has maxed out the cap space, so any trade would involve getting rid of a roster player(s) in order to take salary back
