When the Jays beat the Royals 3 out of 4, it was at the Rogers Centre. Jays have now lost 7 of 9 at Kaufman Stadium. The Royals "nickel and dime" you to death with their cheapo hits.

As exciting as the home run is, I find it much more entertaining when a team plays "small ball", manufacture runs-hit the other way, walks, stolen bases, sac flies and hits,,,etc

I don't know why a quotation from Harry Truman comes to mind: "Never kick a fresh turd on a hot day."

What the fuck was Goins thinking. Seriously.
The good news is that nobody got hurt. In the post game interview Goins said he thought he heard something and that is why he backed off. These miscues (Martin hitting the bat) and now Goins are brutal.

I think this current Jays team might still be a year or two away from winning the whole thing

Not quite sure what happened there. Seems like Price lost his focus and concentration after the bloop and could no longer locate precisely and started to give up hits. Even with a guy on 1st with a weird fluky play, a pitcher who is on his game should not have given up 5 runs. That's just catastrophic. Goofs happen and this one led to a Royal on 1st, not on 2nd or 3rd. No worse than an infield hit or weak grounder in the hole. Regardless of whether Goins is an idiot and whether that should ever have fallen in, it's just 1 base.

I like Price a lot and he's dynamite in the regular season, but he's shaky in the playoffs. No other word for it. How can you pay this guy $30 million per on a 7 year contract if he can't step up in the clutch.

Without that melt-down, we've got a 3-0 (or maybe 3-1) win and a series split going back to Rogers for 3.

And Tulo has been offensively shit-useless since we got him. Basically a Polish Goins. Great fielding, not much offence. The defensive improvement makes him WAY better for the team than Reyes as a whole. But Reyes could sure kick-start a rally in the late innings when we needed one!

Can't wait to get DevTrav back next year and I'm thinking of a Travis / Goins middle infield.

We were killing them the same way - with small ball. But a 5 run inning close to the end of the game is tough to come back against - and especially against the AL's best bullpen. Play that game over and we probably win.

There seems to be some kind of mystery or jinx about Price in the post-season. And the only explanation I can think of is something going on between his ears.

Call that an error by Goins, if you wish, but a one base error is not that big an issue and definitely not an explanation for the wheels coming off his wagon.

Ah! Baseball!

Royals are damn impressive. No automatic outs in that lineup.

Having watched the lineups of the Jays, Rangers and Royals pretty closely, you really appreciate how strong the offensive talent is in the AL. The Dodgers had a horrible lineup. Pillar could bat cleanup for them. The Cardinals and Mets aren't much better. Besides Cespedes, I doubt any of their "sluggers" like David Wright or Lucas Duda would get a sniff in the Jay's order.

I hate to say this but the Jays are done. This is as far as they go. Too many players banged up, week bullpen without Cecil and the Jays seem to not play their best unless their backs are against the wall. They got lucky against Texas because of the 3 errors that were gifts. But against a very hungry Royals team (who almost never make mistakes) and who came up short in the world series last year, I can't see the Jay getting past the Royals, even if they win game 3 or 4. It would be a miracle if they force a game 7. I hope I'm wrong. Was hoping this would be pay back for 1985.

Actually, the Jays were unlucky they lost the 14 inning game 2 and they were unlucky Russel Martin's throw hit that damn bat that was sticking out there with his arm fully extended.

The thing that bugs me now is that stupid Kaufman Stadium. We could have gained home field advantage but were too busy celebrating. Also, Price still haven't recovered from that 11 game layoff.

I honestly think home field would not have mattered. We can play all 7 games here at Rogers Centre and the Royals would take 4 out of 7.

The only advantage is that you get home field for Game #7. If it goes that far. All teams have to win on the road. So far, all have lost games at home.

Price had better win today. This is his moment. In a pitchers park. He screws up and he may find a lot less money on the table.
no chance, dodgers just lost grienke and they can't get past the first round, they have tonnes of cash and they'll pay, plus i think price wants to try hitting.

RS, please! :hand: There's nothing "cheapo" about a base hit.

That is just their style of play. The Jays rely on the long ball... That is THEIR style of play. Some times the ball carries, sometimes it doesn't...

So far, its working in the Royals favour.

Bases loaded and none out, and our guys fail to score? They've left far too many guys on base in the last 2 games...

Recipe for disaster...

Even if we dont come back and beat the Royals, important thing now is to build upon the future. If AA plays his cards right we could have a contender for next 3 to 5 years.

Jays need to sign an ace starter (not David Price) if there's one available. And some of you might disagree but I hope Tulo stays as well because his defense is superb and his hitting will eventually come back around as well

Your divine prognosis would have been impressive had you made it BEFORE the Jays lost the first two. Now you're just jumping off the bandwagon.

Discussion about the 7th inning, Royals are saying that Price was still making good pitches, but they were able to foul them off or hit them. There must have been some fall off in quality though. In the first 6 innings, the Royals got no hits at all, apart from the lead off flailing lucky slap by Escobar.

Some speculation that they knew what Price gonna throw.

Problem is there are no written rules that make stealing signs illegal.

Your team just has to be better at stealing signs than the opposing team
