Some speculation that they knew what Price gonna throw.

Yup seems so. After 18 straight outs, they got 6 singles that inning. Often had a man on 2nd. His velocity was still good but wasn't fooling anyone.

After the first 3-4 hits Martin or Gibby should have changed signs or something to mix it up.

OR maybe just 3rd time thru the order KC batters were seeing the pitches better now in the shade.

Jays also squandered some opportunities like bases loaded 1 out.

Either way bad game and KC looked more ready to battle.
Hope home cooking is the cure.

I've often seen a hitherto dominant pitcher lose his stuff all at once, but normally it involves walks and a big double or home run to drive them in.

It's bizarre to see a team hit 6 singles in an inning without accumulating outs to break up the rally. The reason teams like the Jays prioritize slugging is because it simply works better than multiple small hits most of the time.

Price gave up a couple of walks IIRC. But his major problem seemed to be that all the AB's were lengthy and they all seemed to end with a KC base hit. He appeared unable to finish anyone off or get contact outs.

He was yanked after a long inning at 90+ pitches. So eventually fatigue would factor into it, I guess.

Grienke may not necessarily be lost from the Dodgers. A-fraud once opted out of his then record deal only to resign with the Yankees. As well Sabathia used the threat of his opt out to effectively get a huge extention with the Yanks. Dodgers just lose their exclusive negotiating position.

Loup might be a lefty but I don't think he is an effective lefty.

I must have seen that video 13 times and still don't understand how Cecil hurt himself. It wasn't like the baserunner smashed into him. In fact I don't think anybody even touched Cecil.

I hope Tulo stays as well because his defense is superb and his hitting will eventually come back around as well

Dude, I'm not sure where you get your baseball knowledge from, but this is second time it has to be explained to you that Tulo is signed through the next 5 years with a team option on a 6th year. He has no choice but to stay.

RS, please! :hand: There's nothing "cheapo" about a base hit.

That is just their style of play. The Jays rely on the long ball... That is THEIR style of play. Some times the ball carries, sometimes it doesn't...

So far, its working in the Royals favour.

Bases loaded and none out, and our guys fail to score? They've left far too many guys on base in the last 2 games...

Did I miss part of the game? The only bases loaded situation that I recall was in the 6th, and there was one out. Also, if you eliminate the home runs that every team scored, the Jays still scored more runs than any other team, so 'they live off the long ball' isn't accurate either.

I remember 1985. Scruff Connors played his RoyalsBusters song every chance he could on Q107. The Jays took 3 of the first four games of that series. The Royals have been playing opportunistic baseball to perfection but it will be a radically different atmosphere at Skydome. So far the Royals have hit the Jays with a flurry of left jabs eventually the Jays will start connecting on haymakers. There is one significant positive from game 2, Tulo's scapula appears to be healing. This could be 85 in reverse.

When you use the word "stay" it implies the person has a choice. He doesn't have a choice. If he gets traded, he gets traded. (which I can't understand for the life of me why you would think that would happen in foreseeable future)


He can demand a trade all he wants, the blue jays are the ones holding the cards here.

Did you read all the posts earlier in this thread by guys who want Tulo gone and a Goins/Travis infield for next year?? It was in response to them. I want Tulo to stay in Tulonto for remainder of his contract

Estrada and Price are important signings. Smoak has been disappointing. Colabello is a high priority re-signing. If he can play decent 1B, he belongs on the team and his value is going to soar after the offensive numbers he has put up this year.
