Smoak has been disappointing. Colabello is a high priority re-signing. If he can play decent 1B, he belongs on the team and his value is going to soar after the offensive numbers he has put up this year.
I like Cola over Smoak too. Smoak has a good glove but Cola is not bad as he has shown. Didn't think Cola had enough years to be a FA.

Joey Bats and Edwing are both going to be FA in 2017. They are good deals right now , $14 and $10 mill respectively for a couple of elite sluggers w .900+ OPS.

With JD and TT and CC the offence is good for the next few years.

What about you BBL, you want Tulo to stay our you want him traded??

And what about David Price?? Sign him or not??
I have no idea why people would want to trade the best short stop in baseball. As for Price, I would sign him in a heart beat.

I think now that Zack Grienki opted out of his contract, that will take another team out of the bidding for price. The more good free agents out there, the better the jays have a chance and landing an ace.

I luv Price but I don't think any pitcher is worth $210-240 mil. He may have 3-4 more good years but once a power pitcher is in his his mid 30s it's a crapshoot.
The Jays will likely go with two $15mil signings.

I'd be hesitant to give Price 30 mil, especially for anything more than 5 years. He is 30 and that left arm has seen a lot innings since 2010.

Yes, a true No. 1 is great to have but the Jay's have never given out the kind of cash that will take to resign him.

Well, depends.

First Tulo has been hitting like a eunuch since we got him - 3 months ago. And that makes me wonder if he's injured. Great defence, but he's got an average that's around .220, IIRC.

If he's injured, is it permanent like Ed Sprague or Kelly Gruber who were forced out of the game?

Second, there's the issue of how much upside Goins and Travis have. Goins is already excellent defensively - as in Gold Glove contender in his first full time season. The defence can only get even better. And at times, he has hit well. Can he become consistent at the plate and hit around .270? If so, he's the next Omar Vizquel.

Was last April just a fluke for Travis? Can he better it? He was hitting .300 with power. And playing decent 2B.

Third, there's the ? of how much another team might want to give to get Tulo.

I think edwin will be traded an cola will be the full time 1baseman, with smoak a fill in occasionally. then joey baby will lose all his spanish buddies and sulk. Cola is a 30-100 guy i think if he plays full time, can easily replace edwin and hit for average.

I don't think tulo fits in with the jays, but is goins a legit ss hitting .225. I think they could trade edwin and maybe tulo for top line pitching, but again do you want a 9th hitting .225 average short stop in goins, or go you go after a level 2 ss, .275ba, 10hr 50-60 rbis, if you can find one?

Unless eddy agrees to be full time dh, with the odd 1base start, twice a month maybe

Will the roof be closed on Monday? I thought I heard MLB is concerned about the effect of cold weather on the players.

Edwin's power numbers are far greater than Cola's and he has a proven multi year track record. No way is Edwin going to be traded. If he was, Smoak would play 1B and Cola would be the regular DH.

Goins ended up the season hitting about .250. That's significantly better than .225 and puts Goins among the median of middle infielders. He was also improving noticeably towards the end of the regular season, which leads one to think he could be a .270 hitter at some point.

you should watch a little more baseball before posting your thoughts.

No need to even ask.

You can assume that any post season games they play while inhabiting the Skydome, the ROOF WILL BE CLOSED. Maybe if we get +70F degree weather in October it will be open and even that is a big maybe.

Roof was closed in Houston last week. I think MLB is just going to go with an "if there is a retractable roof, it will be closed" policy for any post season game.

Yes, he's injured, a cracked shoulder blade doesn't heal that quickly. Safe to assume he's playing through it.

Wrong. Tulo has hit .239 since joining the Jays. He also has much more homerun and extra bases power than Goins has.

Tulo also has hit very well in the past with Colorado. Plus he's gotten important hits (one a homerun) in Texas series when Goins didnt hit worth shit.

If Tulo can hit .250 with 15 to 20 homers and 70 to 80 ribbies or so, he's the obvious choice over Goins as our starting SS and should not be traded

You guys Crack me up! Arguing about whose fault it is that they haven't won the last 2 games. It isn't pitching and it isn't defense.

The Jays are batting 3 for 23 with men in scoring position. THAT is the difference right there. Many of those outs are flies to the warning track... which would be home runs in many other parks, Sky dome included.

Time to score some runs at home!

There is one reason that the jays are down 2 games.....Kansas City Royals - they got an ace like pitching performance in game 1, and timely hitting in game 2..they are defending AL champs and they have played like it. We are the contenders and the champ has beaten us so far..going to take a heckuva performance from here on in.....but anything less than best and we lose.

AK, you hit the nail on the head. The guy is a lifetime 300 hitter and good power numbers. So he's had a few bad months. Lot's of good at bats left in him.

Steve Simmons did a hatchet job on Joey Bats in the sports section of the Sun today. He hasn't gotten over Bautista shaming him on Twitter, but he asked for it. Sure he plays with anger, we wouldn't want any other way. But to suggest that he's selfish is out of line. If that were the case he would have left the Jays already, probably for the Red Sox. Simmons better not show up in the dressing room, he's going to get the same treatment that Doug Gilmour gave to that loudmouth from TSN who ended up working for 96.3 easy classics.
