They definitely need some tweaks, but need to be realistic, Rome wasn't built in a day, but so many posts here are reactions to one game or even one at bat. Fekix Doubront had one solid outing and suddenly it's time to get rid of Dickey. Dickey hasn't been a disaster over his 2 1/2 seasons, just not as good as his one great season. There is probably nobody in baseball who would probably prerfer to have Smoak hitting instead of Bautista on any consistent basis, but becasue Bautista is slumping suddenly Smoak (who is also slumping btw) is a better option. The season is a marathon, not a sprint, and any batter can be better than any other over a short term . It's the consistently repeated mistakes that are costing the Jays. Fundamentals-all the little things that add up to cost runs one at a time or in bunches are killing them. Baserunning mistakes by veterans. (Maritn). Sloppy errots by veterans. (Reyes). Missing cutoff men, (All outfielders inckuding the best centerfielder ? in baseball), No communication. (Reyes and others). Gibbons makes some managerial errors that are pretty basic.
This team has an attitude that has to change. They think they don't have to work. They are egotistical. What the hell is with this stirring the pot, like last year's little clapping thing. Lots of teams get hits. This team celebrates more than any team in baseball and they don't have anything to celebrate. Win a little then you can be cocky. Until that happens how about do the little things right and check the egos at the door when you walk into the ballpark. They have talent, but not as much as they think they have. I've coached twelve year old girls ball teams that had better fundametntals then these millionaires.

Yes Colabello isn't a great outfielder but he's decent at 1st. Better than EE I think. Can you really complain about CC though, this guy was a great find for the BJ's.

Reyes is killing us in the field. Not only with the errors but his range is nothing close to what it used to be. The injuries must have taken a toll.

This team needs bullpen arms, a new manager and a decent pitching coach. Gibbons should have come out of the dugout when Bautista was thrown out. The umpire clearly antagonized him. It's like c'mon man show some emotion. He looks like he's detached from the game.

IMO Colabello is not as good as EE defensively or offensively. He should be a reserve used for PH and DH EE can field, he does not have the most accurate arm in the world. Having said that, I believe Smoak is the best defensive first base man they have. His bat is not consistent. He has had his moments here with the bat, but if you look at his history he is better as a role player.

Reyes we agree on. Skills declining including his base running. He needs more days off.

Agree on the need to improve the bull pen, also think another starter is needed, as well as an outfielder.

I am pretty much neutral on the coaching staff and Gibby. If AA goes there will be a wholesale change. If the team continues at the 500 level, they won't make the playoffs and AA will be gone.

Bautista needs to stop showing umpires up. He has been doing it all year. 3 ball count, close pitch, flip the bat and start walking to first only to hear the umpire ring it up. I wonder if he had waited for the call, how many calls would he have gotten. I'm surprised he wasn't tossed before this. Good player, but needs an attitude adjustment!

Jeff Hoffman promoted to AA , being showcased for potential trade at the deadline.
I hope it's not for a rental player

Your source please. I can't find this anywhere.

Looking at his Dunedin numbers, I'm surprised anyone would expect much from him in AA.
I think you would get the same info from watching him in A ball. He is 3-3. Don't think they care
about his record, just get the work in and develop.

I'm guessing it won't be made official until after the all-star break. The AA Eastern League is having their all-star game tomorrow

Looking at his stats in Dunedin nothing really screams out , but it's been very encouring considering he had Tommy John surgery only 14 months ago. The control and the velocity on the fastball is major league ready. Secondary stuff needs work but he's close. Just fine tuning at this point.

I have a hunch one of Anthopoulos' trade partners asked for the promotion to see how he fares against better hitters. FSL is known notoriously for being a pitcher's league.

There was a time when the 3 best centerfielders in MLB all played for NYC teams. Mays, Mantle and Snider. Mays is probably the best of the 3, very slightly ahead of Mantle.

I think a better format is to let all 8 hit for 4 minutes. Eliminate the bottom 4 and have a playoff where #1 competes against #4 and #2 against #3 and the winners compete against each other.

Hello there, Kurt! :hail:

Perry
Hey Perry, thanks for the shout out.

I get the feeling that only a handful of people out there know that Kilgore Trout is a recurring fictional character in Kurt Vonnegut novels.
I read my first Kurt Vonnegut novel, "Jailbird" when I was in second year university and became addicted to Kurt Vonnegut novels very quickly.
I think I read every one of his novels within the next 3 months and I loved the Kilgore Trout character.

Kurt was one of the greats.

Thanks...good read. I really hope they are moving him up because he has earned it. If they trade him, they better get someone with an extended contract and is healthy. Coming off Tommy John, he is just getting the strength back in the arm, appears to be a pitcher of the future. Problem is AA's ass is on the line, so who knows what will happen.
