Keep an eye on the Twins playing in Oakland this weekend. If the Twins go on to win the series and the Jays lose to OAK next week,Jays are not deserved to make a playoff. Gibbons can't manage his team as well as two rookie managers in the AL, K.Cash and P.Molitor!
Unlike the Jays, the Twins just go out and play and 10 games over .500. The Jays just whined about they need more pitching and this and that. More excuses and excuses. The team are not good enough and the manager can't make a difference either.

Reyes just made another error. Ball went through a five hole. His play reminded me of Ken Wreggett playing goal for the Leafs in the late 80's early 90's? A bus can go through Reyes legs now. LOL

best thing about today's game was the beauty sitting behind home plate....reminded me of Rebecca at Brass Rail. Last night I wondered about pitching Schultz 2 innings....he would be slightly better than Tepera in inning 8 (altho Tepera has been fairly decent). Zaun criticized pitch to Casila...who called it?

Take a lot of what Zaun says with a huge grain of salt ....perhaps sea salt. Preseason he was going on about how Russ Martin and his pitch framing skills would save the starters at least a half a run a game. You don't see him now saying that without Martin the starter ERA would be 5 instead of the awful 4.50 it is right now. His nickname isn't Zaun Cherry without reason.

So we used a couple of our best relievers (Schultz and Osuna) yesterday with a four-run lead, meaning today we had to use the "B" relievers with small lead/tie. How does that make any sense?

it tells you that Gibbons has no faith in Delabar, when he uses Tepara ahead of him

Another great preformance from Estrata, I hope he's not a free agent after the season might be commanding some good money

I think Archer's shot at a Cy Young took a hit. Although lots of the season still to play, his stats are starting to slip behind Keuchel and Gray.

Re our maligned pitching staff, Buehrle's stats are solid top 10 in the AL at this point.

Sanchez is back and will pitch out of the pen. So Doubront stays as the #5.

I can't see how to justify Doubront as an MLB starter right now. Either they're going to call Norris back up, or AA has a blockbuster trade up his sleeve.

(full discloser: I think Sanchez should be a starter)

Here
So as the trade deadline approaches, who on the 40 man roster can the BJ's afford to trade?

Thole or Navarro.
Reyes.
One of Saunders, Colabello and Smoak... or Carrera if/as/when Saunders comes back -- he is coming back, isn't he?
Tolleson, if he is still a BJ property.
Maybe Pompey.
The Motorcycle Guy.
A whole bunch of pitchers now with the Bisons other than Norris and Castro.

And I don't think anything will happen until or after the series with the Mariners... at which time the BJ's may be sellers rather than buyers. I also think that after July 31st comes around one or two BJ's may ask to be traded if the BJ's become sellers.

Interestingly, the BJ's are in a position that they could trade their shortstop and a first baseman much like Gillick traded McGriff and Fernandez for Carter and Alomar...

Reyes has too much salary and is too old. Also a good offensive player, even if his defence is lacking.

Perry might be on to something, EE and Reyes to a contender like the Mets that needs hitting and has pitching. On the downside it hurts the offense and EE has to agree. If he can include Smoak or Colabela, rather than EE it would be even better for the Jays.
I hope they either go for it or become sellers, just so tired of watching a .500 team that almost makes the post season. If they become sellers almost sure AA and Gibby are elsewhere next year.

I do recall the debate of Leafs thread vs Raptor thread ie activity but Jays thread in only half of the season has already had more activity then both ... Jays fans love talking ball

So 2 months ago I call for EE to be traded and you guys jump all over me. Now all the sudden many of you think perhaps I was right.

You guys are a bunch of Muppets :p

Who?

Only Dawgger! Certainly not me... Smoak and Colabello are both first basemen...

Perry
Why not trade EE and platoon Smoak/Cola??

They both hit opposite side of the plate, so you use Smoak vs RHP and Cola vs LHP
