I don't think anyone would deny that there is a lot of character on this team. They are not quite ready to cave.
Down 7-0 they have scored 8 in the 6th and still 2 just out. No quit with this team. Hope they can hold on to this lead. Really need a win today. Give them a big boost going into the break.

Remember the great Yogi Berra quote 'It ain't over until it's over!' This could certainly apply here!

Defence gives the Royals back the lead after a huge Blue Jay inning. Reyes needs to be sent packing or maybe moved to second where he doesn't have to make the long throw.

If you move Reyes to 2B where do you put Travis? He has not played SS as a pro.

Reyes may be hurting (again). He has been a liability in the field the last while. Have to hope the all star break rejuvenates him. Wish they could trade him but that salary and his declining skills ought to negate that idea.

Colabela is another one. Not hard to see why the Twins gave up on him. Bat is cooling off and it is a wonder his team mates haven't hidden his glove.
Use him as a DH or pinch hitter. He is friggin' scary as a position player.

The Jays were terrible today..the Royals played a rare bad game but prevailed. Sometimes bad baseball is very entertaining....ok I know it wasnt Gibbons fault, except for sending Goins in the ninth..but the guy shows no emotion. I would suggest that he be rested for the balance of the season and De Marlo Hale be given a chance to manage.

Funny thing about Bautista getting thrown out...I think it would have been better to Have Smoak hitting in the first place...Smoak has to play more

Oh cry me a river.

Where were your posts bashing the trade when it was made?
Hey Georgie, thanks for your opinion.
You have an edgy cranky style about you and I do enjoy reading your posts. You are pretty funny sometimes.

But, anyway, as Syndergaard goes I've always been a Jays prospect geek.
Since the internet took off and it became possible to closely follow all the Jays minor league affiliates and it's always made me groan, in the past and in the future, whenever they trade away a prospect since I become emotionally attached to them for some odd reason.
And even though I can't prove it on Terb, I did feel bad when he was traded away. Maybe that's why I've made so many tactless cheap shots against R.A. Dickey over the last 3 years, when, if I stop and think about it, what did he ever do to me to deserve all that grief.

As far as criticizing the trade at the time on Terb. I don't know. It might be there; but, I 'm not going to go over my post history and see if I said that. You can do that for me.

I've never thought of terb as some place I have to post all my opinions on so I can dig them up later on and say "I told you so."
People would just roll their eyes and think 'this guy should get a life' if I went down that path.
In life sometimes you're right and sometimes your wrong. Just got to learn from mistakes and move on.
'
In any case, I've always been against trading away top prospects in all sports I follow for old veterans even if they end up working.

You've never seen me once push the Jays to trade away prospects on terb for rentals or old guys in all the years there's been a Jays thread. I'm always the one pushing in the opposite direction.
I've always been a negative Nancy on trading away prospects.
If they trade away Jeff Hoffman or Daniel Norris I guarantee you I won't like it.
When the screaming horde is out there screaming for trading away top prospects I'm always groaning a bit and dreading it. Just the way I am.

It's true what you say about David Cone and Rickey Henderson though. I did have reservations about those trades; but, since it was Pat Gillick doing it; - what can you say - you've got to trust a guy with magical intuition like that.
I didn't like Cito Gaston for a while because of some of his strategies; but, when he won 2 world series titles every thing he did became divine and I just loved the guy to death. And never once did I criticize him again.
When people have a track record of success, you just learn to go with what they want.

Have a nice day Georgie Costanza. Baseball world is full of opinions eh. Maybe those Yankees can pull it off again this year.

I'm glad I missed this game.
Another late inning almost-comeback heartbreaker.

I still love the Jays but they're gonna need serious upgrades before July 31st or this season is toast

Today was certainly entertaining... and I don't think it was all that that bad.... not if you take +110°F on the field into account.

I doubt if it was a record, but I can't recall seeing 7 errors in the same game ..not counting pee wee games...and a few other misplays (Martin getting caught off third for example)...and it gets hot in the summertime in the midwest the south and the latin countries...so these guys are used to it

I think there is a point to be made....

The trades that Pat Gillick made, for the most part, worked; the trades that AA has made, for the most part, have not.

In a very major way, a team and its destiny are what the GM makes of them...

Perry
From 1978 to 1984, what great trades did Pat Gillick make?
That would be his 1st 6 years as the Toronto Blue Jays General Manager.
Come this October, Alex Anthopoulos will have completed his 1st 6 years as a G.M.

You are comparing on an equal footing a team being assembled from scratch with a 30 year old team with a well developed farm system?

lets be honest...we were all excited when we got dickey. We thought it meant the pennant for us. so we were all wrong.

Well... no!

We were all excited but we were not wrong. It's Dickey that is wrong! If he were right, we would have a pennant.
