I missed this afternoon game just like I missed the game yesterday. I guess they play games in the afternoon on weekends for the kids but I have better things to do than to watch TV on the last decent weekend of the Summer. So near and yet so far. Bullpen meltdown costs Alvarez the win.
When Doc Halladay was here, he insisted on finishing as many games as possible. You are ahead 5-1 in the game and it is obviously the starting pitchers last start of the season. He had only thrown 75 pitches (I may be wrong on the exact count) and yet you pull him.
He gave up a homerun, had a wp which let a run score, threw 87 pitches and had faced 26 batters, which mean all of the batters except one had seen him 3 times. You are ahead 5-1 in the game and it is obviously the starting pitchers last start of the season. He had only thrown 75 pitches (I may be wrong on the exact count) and yet you pull him. Frankly, I lost all respect for Farrell as a manager with that. Time for Farrell to be traded to Boston for a bucket of Gatorade.
Lind's average since his return from the D.L.(August 26th) is ~.300Adam Lind has his average over .250, nice recovery as it was under .200 when he returned from Vegas.
Do you keep him or is he onthe block?
If he had them for the latter two, he has undoubtedly already surpassed them.Looks like they shut down EE for the rest of the year. Hope he doesn't have any bonus clauses for games, HR's, RBI's, etc.
The rest of the year???? It's one game....Looks like they shut down EE for the rest of the year. Hope he doesn't have any bonus clauses for games, HR's, RBI's, etc.
Good work, Kilgore!I have a feeling Snider will be traded out of the organization in the next year.
And......Know what value spring training records have, according to Pat Gillick?
Zero.
Personally I hope they resign Lyon. Vilaneuva, thinks he is a starter and I wish him luck. If he wants to stay here as long relief and spot starter great, but I don't see that happenong. Cecil might work out as the long reliever and spot starter, if he is willing to accept that role. Johnson won't be back. Bat isn't consistent and defense at best, adequate. Beck whatever,he hasn't shown much. Frasor I still like, he did a good job until he got hurt, I wouldn't give up on him just yet. Rasmus, needs a haircut. He is a decent center fielder but his bat is si inconsistent. If he hits he can help anywhere in the outfield. Lind I like as the left handed bat. He will be tough to trade but if you can get a decent bat or a starter he could be worth moving. Cooper, I like but think he will be better off somewhere else. I guess it will depend on the offers. Mathis will be here. I can see them moving J P if the price is right.Escobar for a second baseman with a stick sure if you can find the guy that needs an average shortstop and is willing to part with an above averave second baseman for him. I think the Jays could pick up Davis's option then trade him. His speed makes him valuable. Definitely need starters as I don't see Laffey and Happ being the answer(s).Some predictions as to which "regulars" will be traded or not be back in 2013:
Lyon
Beck
Cecil
Villanueva
Frasor
Johnson
Rasmus
Escobar (if AA gets a top notch 2nd baseman)
Lind
Cooper (if AA gets an experienced LH bat)
Mathis?
And I hope AA goes out for Chase Utley... he will be 34, but I think he still has 2 or 3 good years ahead of him, especially with a change of scenery.
And, of course, AA must also land a top flight starter and a power LH bat.
Spring training is just 19 weeks away!
