By my calculation the Jays will pick 11th in June 2013.
What do the top 15 MLB prospects look like ?

Mathis will be here. I can see them moving J P if the price is right.
I wonder how close D'Arnaud is?

Mathis is signed and JP has pop in his bat.

If D'Arnaud is ready, how about JP as part time DH, with maybe 20 starts behind the plate spelling the other 2. Throw in Lind and EE as 1B/DH as well.

A pair of triumvirates at DH/1B and at catcher with JP overlapping. Might take some complex juggling.

Damaged goods, especially for a catcher who has to block Pete Rose. The big question mark is Bautista. He will be 32 in 2013, not old old but not young either. Can EE repeat 2012? Which Romero will we see in 2013? Can Lind continue to comeback? Does Rasmus have any upside ot has he plateaued? Lots of questions.

Reasons why I'm optimistic about 2013:
1. The Jays couldn't possibly have as bad a season, injury-wise, as 2012 (could they?)
2. Bautista and Encarnacion for a full season
3. Lind was strong down the stretch, bodes well for next year
4. Ditto for Arencibia
5. Starting out with a real bullpen
6. Anthony Gose
7. Young players are a bit more experienced
8. Jays management will understand that Romero doesn't have the mental makeup to be a #1 starter, Morrow will be #1

What are the chances of the manager moving over to Boston now that Valentine is gone there?
I think he stays in Toronto. However, I hope AA has done due diligence and if he wants to go to Boston get something for him. I haven't seen anything that would make me say "we have to keep him!"

Two great reasons right there.

Get a quality starter or two in addition to a full season of Santos, Lincoln and Delabar and I can't wait to see what happens.

Gose is electric. What a prospect.

Jays could work out a deal with Boston for Farrell then sign Terry Francona.:thumb:
I want Farrell to be the guy here though.

Here
I think Farrell will be the Boston manager next year.

What seems obvious is that he has not been able to really help, motivate and get the most from the young talent... Lawrie, Rasmus, Snider, Thames, Alvarez, Beck, etc. and the BJ's strength is its young talent.

Escobar no longer can be considered "young" but he has not been able to light a fire under him, either!

Too early to tell how much he has been able to help Gose, Hecha and Sierra...

It's the manager's job to groom young talent... yes, you have to "father" them to a great extent... these are kids in their very early 20's who need that kind of guidance until they become seasoned to the big league.

I think he will do much better with veteran, experienced talent....

As I said before, look at what Showalter and Melvin have been able to do with young and, at least on paper, lesser talent!

And, BTW, Francona could just be the man for the BJ's!

I like Francona too, but, I think he going to Cleveland.
I hope this thing with Farrell is settled one way or the other quickly. If he would rather be in Boston, goodby and good luck.
This has been around a good part of the season, do Beeston and AA have a contigengy plan? If they don't maybe the Jays
should be looking to replace them!

The Farrell decision is actually a pretty easy one. Either, he's the man for the Jays job for years to come or he is not. If he's the man, then extend him this offseason (just like how TB extended Maddon back in February for another 3 years on top of what was supposed to be his final year in 2012). If he's not then send him to Boston and get some compensation back in return.

Buchholz would be a nice return but it may take more than just Farrell to get him.

I think the Jays need an Hispanic manager. Someone familiar with the culture and language of Latino ballplayer. Is it to early to make Omar Visquel manager (sorry if I messed up his name)?

Omar has made no secret that he wants to manage. I think he might find it difficult to manage players that might consider him a team mate. He certainly has the playing experience to manage, but he doesn't have "managerial" experience at any level. I think he will need to manage in the minors before he gets a shot at a major league team. He is a class act and my bet is he will manage in the "bigs" fairly quickly.

Joe Torre ? This organization may need somebody who has been there and done that type ie has managed before and has been sucessful . Buck , John Farrell , John Gibbons , Carlos Tosca, Tim Johnson, etc have all been 1st timers .

Look what Buck Showalter has done for the Baltimore Orioles ... He took over a 32-73 Orioles team and finished the season with a 34-23 record and in just a year and half he has that team in the playoffs .

So was Cito.

Jim Fregosi had experience.

There is no formula.
