That's why I am rarely the 1st one to quote a number. If they persist, I say "When you get your hair or nails done, do they ask you how much you're willing to pay or do they tell you their prices. The same thing with a lawyer, he quotes you his hourly rate, not ask how much you can afford?" That's just the way our society works. The seller states his price and we decide if we want to accept it or not. Do not make the initial offer. This will keep prices and the ladies' expectations lower.
TBH, I prefer discussing it in person. How do we know how much we're willing to give them when we haven't even met them or know if there's any chemistry both sexually and personality wise.
