Ambiguous use of apostrophe in the bus shelter poster. Does Israel possess "killing children", or is it a contraction of "is" (one of the least useful contractions in the English language, since you need to use a character to save writing a single character)? Myself, if I was a lunatic who nevertheless had money to buy bus signs I would have avoided the ambiguity and the resulting "is" would have had greater impact. But I guess the person who commissioned the sign wasn't thinking too clearly, based on the content of the sign.
What makes these intrusions so troubling is that I doubt that ANYTHING on the agenda of the school board meeting had anything to do with the Hamas-Israel war, or even any issue pertaining to Islam. These are, plain and simple, attempts to disrupt public order. And what is the demand? For Canada to force a ceasefire? Canada is not a party to the conflict (except to the extent that Canadians were killed or taken hostage by Hamas on Oct 7). Didn't Palestinians who moved to Canada come here to get away from the self-destructive politics of the place they left?
