...and Shanny! The Leafs narrowly escaped elimination by beating the Panthers 2:1. Marner and NYlander each scored a goal. Still no goals by Matthews and Tavares. Back to Toronto for next game. Wish them luck. Regardless, I hope they get rid of Sheldon Keefe Kyle Dubas.

Joel Quenville. There is a much better coach waiting to replace Keefe ( Gerrard Garant).
Yes, but can he make Ron Hextall his bitch.Woll giving me Potvin vibes.
As the plaque at Wimbledon says, "pressure is a privilege", Joseph Woll should embrace it.But that's a lot of pressure to put on a rookie goaltender isn't it?
At one time, the Habs had 4 future HOF goalies in their system. A team can never have too many good goalies.Ken Dryden, Patrick Roy and Cam Ward all won the Stanley Cup as rookies, Martin Brodeur and Jordan Billington were sophomores.
And they traded away 2 of them. They kept (at that point) the worst one, Gump, and traded the best one, Tony Esposito, after playing 13 games. At one time, the Habs had 4 future HOF goalies in their system. A team can never have too many good goalies.
Look.... the NHL Expansion Draft rules were flipped on their head in 2017 to justify the cost the league imposed on the Golden Knights to enter the league, and the new draft rules ensured success right off the hop. The goal was to not create another brand new franchise that struggles for years as was usually the case, and for Vegas to create success in their new market immediately.
The Golden Knights became the most successful first-year franchise in league history and reached the Stanley Cup Final their first year of existence.
The Seattle Kraken had the same advantage and are now showing great success as a second-year club.
The Vancouver Canucks did not have the advantage of the current expansion draft rules.
If the Toronto Maple Leafs had been in the Stanley Cup Final in 1982, 1994 and 2011 like the Canucks were, it would not be viewed as "embarrassing and disgusting".
The CBC, TSN and Sportsnet staff were doing backflips when the Leafs won a single playoff round last week.

They didn't trade Esposito. He was claimed on waivers. And they traded away 2 of them. They kept (at that point) the worst one, Gump, and traded the best one, Tony Esposito, after playing 13 games.
I laughed when I heard that. What exactly do they care deeply about? It's not the wants, needs, expectations or opinions of the owners, the fans, or the media according to Mitch Marner. He said they actually don't give a shit about any of that and don't listen to or care about anything that is said or written by anyone outside the dressing room. I suspect that even includes what the coaches are saying inside the dressing room given their refusal to put in consistent effort game in/game out. What do they care about?“The first thing is that they care. They care deeply. And because of that, you give that type of effort. They didn't want to go quietly,” Keefe said.
Makes you wonder where was this type of effort in the previous three games ? Did they not care enough or was it because Keefe couldn’t get it out of them until they felt like they “ didn’t want to go quietly “ ?
‘It might be Keefe’s back door criticism of the core players combined efforts in the pre three game.I laughed when I heard that. What exactly do they care deeply about? Their own ability to sign contracts and keep making money. Everyone else can pound sand. Player selfishness on full display. Well done, Mitch!
Nylander was another overt example of player selfishness. He not-surprisingly played the game of his life when getting 40 goals this season was on the line. Pretty sure there was bonus money to be had for him at 40 that was going to disappear if he stalled at 39. Didn't matter if they won or not, just him getting to 40. Once that was done, he was back to fucking the dog most of the time he's on the ice.
