The writing is on the wall - this team is exceptionally unlikely to make it out of R2 barring a modern-day miracle. That said, this is Keefe's fourth year as coach. Consistently getting the most out of the talent he's given, and outcoaching opposing coaches in real time is his mandate. He's a failure on both counts. On that basis, I can't see any really compelling reason he should stay. The team's performance, consistency and overall success is not significantly better than when he started, and this post season he was provided what was considered by management as upgrades that he was supposed to leverage to help this team move not only beyond the first round, but deep into the later rounds. He simply hasn't got the job done. Everyone knows Dubas' story. I'd be very surprised if they offered him anything more than another low-ball, short term offer. Easy out for the Leafs and Dubas himself...win-win politically and PR-wise. After that, with new people in the captain's chair I would expect the necessary trades will begin.
