People are predicting the Leafs are the favourite for winning the cup. Based on their performance against the Panthers in Game 1, the Panthers are the better
team having the better chance of winning the cup.

CP
Leafs are made one of the favourites to win not because the odds makers feel they’re that good. The Leafs with one of the largest fan bases in N America have a lot of bets placed on them by their die hard fans after winning the first round for the first time in 20 years. The Panthers are riding the momentum they built from winning key games to qualify for the playoffs. Personally I’d put them them the 8th best among all teams remain in the second round. It’s still a series for the Leafs to lose. The Leafs at best have a 50/50 chance against the other 6 teams

Agree with KD and GameBoy - fucking Nylander is a joke this far in the playoffs. Never has there been a bigger chickenshit floater than him. He's clearly terrified of the rough going and makes poor plays and dead giveaways every damn time an opposing player comes anywhere near him. I hope he feels the well deserved deep humiliation every time the team watches him shit his pants and run for cover/the bench and then watches Marner grinding it out in the corners and blocking shots left and right fearlessly. I could understand if he was a consistent threat when he's on the ice, giving 100% every shift, or at least lighting it up on the scoreboard, but fuck, the guy is virtually INVISIBLE!

Absolutely hate the fucker, and no one will ever convince me he adds a single iota of championship value to the Leads roster. So done with this guy!
Not the same Nylander who was looking to score his 30th goal for sure. It seems he’s more motivated for personal stats than for the team. I still have hopes that with a butt kick he may play with more intensity to make a difference in the next game.

Ever heard of the goalie?
BINGO!!!

The goalie is part of the team, that is, part of the Leafs team.

So when the Tampa skaters have a territorial advantage but lose because of the opposition goalie, one has to include that goalie (as you very astutely just did) when discussing the TEAM, as a whole. The Leafs, as a whole, including the goalie, outplayed Tampa.

One can say that Tampa skaters had a territorial advantage over the Leafs skaters. One could even say that the Tampa skaters outplayed the Leafs skaters.

But one has to include the goalies when discussing how the "Leafs" did vs. how the "Lightning" did. The Leafs team outplayed the Lightning team in 4 of the 6 games.

I know that I am making a point based on semantics, but I think it is a valid and significant point. One has to include the play of the goalies when discussing who outplayed whom. Without the goalies we are not talking about the Leafs team, we are talking only about the Leafs' skaters and territorial advantages.

One of the talking heads on TV said Matthew Tkachuk is the second best player in the NHL.

Coaches don't devise a plan where they play like crap and the goalie plays great and says we won let's stick with the same game plan.
If Leafs are not playing their game then they are being outplayed.
If TB is dictating play that means Leafs are not able to play their game.
They are being outplayed.
Ever heard of expected goals? That's not actual goals.
Ever heard of goalie stealing a game?
That means the team played like crap.

By the way, you thinking Leafs would catch Boston was also full of

C R A P ! ! !

Just an endless endless rant of how Leafs will catch Boston in the regular season standings.
That was another life lesson. Don't waste my time with total nonsense coming from Shack. Life is too short

Why so angry? I gave a measured, calm and logical explanation of how one must include a goalie's performance as part of the overall team performance. Now you sound very worked up, upset and hurling insults.

Ever heard of goalie stealing a game?

To repeat, a goalie is a part of the team, so if he steals a game it is part of the overall team's performance. Is this too difficult of a concept for you to comprehend?
Actually, I'm not sure why I asked this, because clearly your intellect, or lack thereof, does not allow you to.

Next. It seems that reading comprehension is also an intellectual skill with which you have deficiencies.

By the way, you thinking Leafs would catch Boston was also full of

Show me where I said that they WOULD catch them. If I recall, I said that there was still a CHANCE that they could catch them. That's a big difference buddy boy. But once again I shouldn't hold you to too high of a standard. It is unfair.

BTW, I's love to see this "endless rant" of which you speak. If anybody is ranting, go look in the mirror. You are the only one who is frothing at the mouth.

Once again, a goalie is a part of the team. Samsonov outplayed Vassy by more than the Tampa skaters outplayed the Leafs skaters. It means that the Leafs team outplayed the Tampa team.

Calm down, have a drink and reread this verrry slowly a few times until it sinks in.

This series is done. If anyone believes this TML team can beat FLA four out of the next five games they are completely nuts. Another season wasted.

Bruins fans are saying that a few days ago...

They made a couple bad mistakes that wound up in the back of the net. Then we simply got goalied. I can't believe Bob turned away all those chances. Any other night, any other goalie and they're burying one or two of those.

Fair enough. I'll cheer as loudly as anyone if the Leafs pull out a miracle and somehow take the series. I sincerely wish them the best of luck, and will be rooting for them along the way, but I am 99.999% certain it won't turn out that way.

While I'm optimistic (as is my nature) they have a serious uphill battle. The goal was to win the first round and they did that. Now we're hungry for more. Hope they are too. The part that makes me angry, is it looked like they could've won both those games. It wasn't like they didn't have a chance against a far superior team. All we can do is hope.

Knies out with a concussion.
