Hate to be an armchair QB's but just imagine if the Jays landed Robinson Cano at 2B and Abreu @ 1B during the off season. AA and the Jays would be talking about adding a veteran pitcher for the WS instead of trying to plugging holes left right and centre!
I'm not sure why Toronto would have been interested in a 1st baseman in free agency this past offseason?

I've been following the Jays for years and it's really frustrating watching Adam Lind as the Jay's first baseman. When you think that he got the game figured out he goes back to the DL! I agree with eguapo that Rogers&Co. don't want to inflate their salary structure. Corporate line is that get players with 'controllable years of salary down the road'. Problem with this approach is that they will almost always end up with players who had past their prime. For example, they maybe interested in trading for Cano once he has about 3 years left on his current contract. Would I take Cano after 7 years with possible diminishing skills from today?
I haven't looked into the financial standing of the Chicago Cubs. But,it makes great business sense that they kept making money while the team kept losing. In Toronto,we have the Leafs as perfect example and now the Jays are followed with the same business models.

Adam Lind and EE are the Jay's regular first basemen/DH. They are both more than adequate at first. Seattle over paid for Cano. Jays are profitable because Rogers owns their TV rights. The money is just allocated to a different division.

Maybe you've been watching something else because Encarnacion has been the regular 1B with Lind occasionally filling in. Lind has also been lights out against righties, batting over .400. He doesn't frustrate me.

I think TERB needs to replace our current armchair QB.

Read earlier reports that Lind, Encarnacion, Reimold could be back next week, Lawrie in two weeks. That will be a big boost.

Kind of like a blockbuster trade?

Good win tonight.

Dickey great after the 1st three batters.
Sanchez perfect for two.
Casey much better than the last two outings.

Came back twice.
Some timely hitting.
Run production from some of the lesser lights (finally).
Aggressive on the bases.

They are playing hard and winning enough to stay in the hunt. EE, Lawrie, Lind.

Baltimore finally lose. We inch to within 3 games. As of tomorrow, O's play Seattle and we benefit either way in the Division or WC. And Boston plays Tampa. Let's hope they split the series.

No question Jays will need their competitors help. but, I am more concerned with the Jays winning than how the opposition does. Jays need to beat Boston this afternoon and then kick ass in NY. If the Jays don't perform what the opponents do is irrelevant.

Milone wants to get out of Oakland after the big trades. He is a lefty. Should the Jays talk to Oakland about the guy? Please, stop dreaming about getting Price! Boston next series is in Tampa so it would be interesting if Rays swept the Sox. And,Jays steal a series in NY. We will find out where the Jays are on Monday. It will be fun.

TB is red hot right now and if they sweep Bosox and O's keep winning, that might be the Sox season done then and there.

Thought terb's resident armchair QB would be coming up with ideas as to how to make this trade work. Certainly Milone could help but at what cost? What would the A's want and what do the Jays have that they can give up without wrecking the team or the the future? Milone isn't going to be given away just because he has asked for a trade.

Milone is like a younger version of Buerle, which is not necessarily a bad thing as he usually keeps them in games with his assortment off offspeed stuff. His big issue is a pronounced home/road split in that he benefits quite a bit pitching in OAK. But he could be a useful source of quality innings...... Hutch has not pitched more than 160 inns as a pro (that was preinjury), now at 110ish...they say he has no innings cap, but he has had a few rough outings lately. Stroman has pitched up to 111 inns as a pro and he is approaching 100. Sanchez is capped at 30 inns the rest of the way.

LOL! Dare I say that either Hutchinson/Happ go back to Oak? Incl. Pillar as well? Hmmm...sounds good to me...lol...

In the 6
Stroman and Blue Jays winning again 7-0 on getaway day.

They'll be tied for WC lead after this win

EDIT: fuck I just realized Stroman has a no-hitter going into 7th inning :clap2:
