Great start by Bautista!!!

Do you guys trust RA Dickey to start a wild card playoff game, cause I dont. If Jays do make the playoffs they will only need a 3-man rotation, and I think it should be Buehrle, Stroman and Happ

i'd go w Dickey and yank him after 5 innings and replace him w Sanchez.

Dickey has the 2nd highest # of home runs against in the AL this season. Peavey is 1 HR more.

Nice play by Reyes to end the 2nd.

Aw fuck ... now 6-4 Yankees.

I was sitting in store parking lot waiting for wife, I tune into game and Blue Jays radio crew is going on about the lead the Jays have. the way they were talking I saw thinking it was 7-0 or 9-0 or something.
I finally check in device ... 3-0 and only in first inning. Right away I said to myself 'what the fuck' that is nothing really ... considering it is Yankees Stadium and NY seems to have the Jays number there.

Well so much for that big lead.

P.S. When are the Yankees going to start to feel the void of injured Tanaka ?

Further ...
The only other good news (or is that the only sure fire good news ?) is that Baltimore or Seattle will lose.

I still think Jays should make some type of blockbuster trade for another quality starter

Great idea! so who do you trade to get the starter? Need a starter that should be no worst than a 3, Jays already loaded with 4's and 5's.
Could you get somebody to take Reyes? Then you need an infielder to be included in the deal.

Maybe you could deal Lind, Rasmus, and Reyes for a starter and an infielder, just have to find a team that needs those guys and will give you what you want. Bet AA wishes it was that easy!

At this point, I wouldn't deal Lind for a 3. Rasmus and Reyes, maybe. But no more.

Jays have a decent enough rotation. The real issues are Hutch and Happ's consistency and Dickey's ability to consistently go deep into games. It's not as though there was a desperate need to trade away core to get survival level pitching.

And it could be that Hutch and Happ could settle down as the last 1/3 of the season unwinds.

Francisco might be good trade bait, along with some minor league prospects and the proverbial "player to be named later"......LOL

Here
Rasmus.

Allegedly a 5-tool all-star. Can't hit for average (lifetime, .246). Can't hit for power (.437). Or get on base (OPS .750). Can't steal bases (27). Strikes out 28% of the times... especially with runners in scoring position or in the middle of a rally. Walks 9%. Earns 7 million. Free agent at end of year.

Decent journeyman, but far from all-star.

What contending team would want him?

Trade value: 2 cases of very good single malt scotch plus a large box of chewing tobacco,

Perry

I still think the BJ's are not short on talent.

The failure is consistency in playing to a high level of their potential. Too much it's either feast or famine.

They don't play well as a team.

They had great but short runs last year and again this year. Other than that, they have been mediocre.

I still think it is a matter of motivation. It's between their ears. No other explanation seems to make sense.

The Jays will not go anywhere upwards fast if Dickey&Buerhle are not out of their funk soon! Everyone was worried about the rookie pitchers but they have performed beyond expectations lately. So,now its time for the senior pitching staff to get it going to earn their paycheques!
At least you can tell that the Yankees tried everything to win by bringing in new players to the team. We have AA here he is sitting on his hands because he could not find anyone with 'controllable' plus talents to fix his trading pattern.

Great outing by Hutch.
Great outing by Loup.
Janssen worries me, all balls off him were hit hard.

Also props to Dan Johnson

I think Casey is still not 100%. I trust him.

It's nice to see Johnson be the difference maker. I like him and I'm happy for him.

Dickey isn't in a funk.
He doesn't deserve his record. Buerhle is in a funk lately (but not as long of a funk that his record would suggest - just the last few games he has pitched bad).

It would be great for morale if Jays win the rubber match tomorrow
