Oh boy, I should have known better. I turned off the tv at 80 mins when Argentina was ahead 2-0.

Missed all the excitement.

The insane part is that it is past midnight in Qatar when they went into extra time.
Suits us perfectly Canada. Cannot understand why Argentina sat back when they went two goals up and invited Holland to pull back the two goal deficit.
Then Holland were more defensive in the extra time, as if to say that they prefer the penalties to be the decider!!

Holland did well. Too bad Argie keeper guessed the right way on both PK's.
As per usual we are one the smallest countries in the world, and yet we are always amongst the best.

Better luck in 2026

I honestly did not think Holland played very well in the first 80 minutes. They were not dangerous at all.
They miss players like Holland had in the past, Robben, Van Persie etc

Yes, they sucked for 80 mins. Didnt do anything at all and then woke up. Argentina has to do everything the hard way.

I will simply state the fact here: this world cup is the best one we had this century and likely will not be surpassed for many years. End of story no arguments accepted, if you disagree then you are wrong.

He says he's ok with it and understands.

Ronaldo benched again against Morocco in World Cup quarterfinals

DOHA, Qatar (AP) _ Cristiano Ronaldo is starting on the bench for Portugal for the second straight game at the World Cup.

The 37-year-old Ronaldo remained out of the starting lineup against Morocco for the quarterfinals match on Saturday after being dropped for the round-of-16 match against Switzerland.

Goncalo Ramos, who scored a hat trick against Switzerland on his first start for Portugal, was again selected ahead of Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is playing in his fifth and likely final World Cup.

He was left out of the lineup against the Swiss after coach Fernando Santos expressed frustration about his team captain's attitude in the previous game.

Santos later said Ronaldo was ``not happy'' to be told he was being benched, but never threatened to leave the World Cup because of his decision.

Ronaldo, the all-time leading scorer in men's national team soccer with 118 goals, eventually came in as a replacement in the 74th minute.

Argentina was the far better side in that game. Holland just had a good stretch of about about 20 minutes. Near the end of extra time it was a shooting gallery for Argentina including a hit post in the dying seconds. The Dutch were very fortunate to get to penalty kicks.
Also I wouldn't call 17.5 million population that small. Croatia, for instance, only has 4 million. Portugal only has 10.5 million.

The Moroccan Steel Curtain strikes again...the only nation that's scored against them is Canada.

Their defense is grim, they cannot be broken down with direct attacks, their positional play is too strong. This was a match CR7 needed to start, if for nothing else to hold up the defenders. The bitter reality, the Portuguese crosses and corners were abysmal. Too many opportunities squandered. Bruno Fernandes may not be good enough to be a trequartista, Jeao Felix should have been in that role.

Can an Arab country win the World Cup...this almost a home game for them.

Morocco vs France - Morocco beats their former colonizers and go on to the finals and win it! Am manifesting that haha.

It will be forever remembered that CR7's last World Cup game ever was a 1 - 0 loss to Morocco where he came off the bench.

You cannot win football games if you do not score goals.
The attacking has been weak during the whole tournament so far. There is a shortage of strikers.

The Moroccan goal keeper is the best.
