I know clarkson scored a goal, but why is it the leafs seem to lose with him in the lineup? it's bizarre. I'm not blaming him for the loss, but the record with him in vs without is quite noticeable.

I hate the Florida trips. I would like to see both teams move north, into Canada, one in the GTA and the other Quebec City.

As for the game it seemed the team defence was ok, but there was no offence. They could not get going.
The way things were going I would have made Clarkson a healthy scratch.

If you aren't blaming him, why bring it up?

This subject was addressed on the radio broadcast during pregame last night.

While the Leafs record is slightly better when Clarkson is out, it's negligibly different.

The team has been on a winning streak without him, why mess with the chemistry of a winning group when you don't have to? Leafs were going up against one of the weakest teams in the league and altered their lineup so as to insert their overpaid, under achieving off season acquisition into the line up.

It's hard to sit a guy making $5 million a year, even if he's playing poorly. Then again you had Wade Redden who spent a few years banished to the AHL while making millions.

The Leafs have played a few real bad games this season and Clarkson didn't play in all of them.

However, while its unfair to single him out for any of the losses, he hasn't contributed in a way that's expected from a $5M player. He's contributed even less than guys like Raymond and Holland whom were signed for practically peanuts. While excuses can be made for his subpar offensive output, like suspension, injuries, or playing with line mates with little offensive skills, the biggest disappointment as far as I'm concerned, it's the absence of any eagerness to engage in physical battles even when situations warrant.

When he used to play against the Leafs, there were plenty of abrasiveness and intimidation in his game that reminded me of the way Wendell used to play. Maybe now that he's signed to a big contract, he's shying away from that part of game for longevity. If that's the case, he may turn out to be another Jason Blake whom the Leafs way over paid to sign. He's not even as skilled as Raymond or Holland, and not as physically intimidating like Komarov. Yet he was paid for more than the total um needed to sign all 3 players noted.

Holland wasn't signed by the Maple Leafs, he was acquired by trade.

I did not say he was originally signed by the Leafs. He was however signed under contract for less than $1M when he was acquired through a trade.

First period was a bit shaky, and their face offs still need a ton of work, but yeah, waaaay better effort tonight.
Yes first was a little shaky until they got that PP. I heard Bowen saying how they have not had a shot yet, maybe one or two just before the PP, but they end the first out shooting Tampa.
The second and third the Leafs were dominant or at least even in play. Bozak did not have a good game in the circle, less then %40. No Leaf center had a good faceoff night.
However Leafs were better on the scoreboard and that is what counts.

Held my breath when Kessel went down, was thinking Stamkos, but he got up and played the next shift.

WHEW !

Another typical Leaf win. Opportunistic.

Great shot by Phil for the 3rd goal. Kessellian.

I wouldn't be surprised, with the way he went down, if McClement has a broken cheekbone.

The Kessel haters are really quiet these days. He played his heart out and led by example. Another fine comeback from the team. They believe they can beat anyone any day.

Going into the break Kessel is third overall for points (65 points in 60 GP) and is second overall for goals (31 G)...

Kessel Haters can't say shit....

Then Alex Burrows with the full head gear throwing crosschecks, and punches
Just when you think Burrows can't sink any lower, he cements his status as the ultimate King of the Pu$$ies. I wish Kessel would've gotten a good punch onto his broken jaw. Canucks have always been the most hated team in the league, although I feel bad for Tortorella (I like him he's entertaining and passionate), this 7 game losing streak couldn't happen to a nicer team. Gillis royally f*cked up the Luongo situation and it looks like the cupboard is bare now, I don't think he'll keep his job much longer.

Pretty sure McClement has a concussion, he hit his face on the ice then the back of his head on the boards. He has just short of 3 weeks to recover.

Agreed 100% ! The preview season fight has indicated their unity as a team and that's the reason why this year's Leafs is different from what we have known.

Unity is strength! (团结就是力量!) Understanding is additive! (默契就是添加剂!)

Remember, be aware of acting too late. too crowded. too close to our own net on defense......

Go Leafs Go!

On a hot run the last month but still only 7th place and the Bruins, Lightning and Habs still have games in hand. I'd love to see leafs and Habs in first round. TB should turn it up a notch after the Olympic break as Stamkos should be ready by then.

That would a be a great series, but what seed does the winner of that series take on, the 1st/8th? I've been unable to figure it out.

7th in terms of playoff seedings. They have the 5th best record in the east.
