The Leafs need to keep winning.
Even a mild slump will see them plunge in the standings.
They could be in 9th place now if the teams behind us win their games in hand.
Even Ottawa in 11th place is only 4 points behing the Leafs with a game in hand.

The Leafs have called up a defenceman, Korbinian Holzer.
Holzer was a fourth rounder in '06. He is from Germany, 6'3" 205lbs.
I expected it would Aulie.
The real test will come as to where they end up when the new and improved Penguins come to town.leafs win....again this time in a shoot out. Monster (imo) had a decent game....again

One game to determine where they will end up? I can't agree. It's an interesting game, but it's only one game.

Wonder what the ref saw or didn't see on that high stick. That would have been a 4 minute penalty going into OT. Nice goal by Lupul.Lupul scores !

Gustavsson plays well again. He has got to get the start in Anaheim on Sunday.
At the quarter point, Leafs doing well. Still a long way to go.
Defense has to improve.Giving up way too many opportunities.
Gustavsson would be my pick too but Wilson is the coach and what he will do is anyone's guess.
Excellent 1st quarter, beyond my expectations, still think they will drop down in the standings.

The Ducks are struggling, losers of six in a row. I would like to see that streak hit seven before it ends.
Would really like to see Kessel score a couple and more importantly get another good game from Gustavsson.
I see improvement from Schenn, just keep it simple.

Actually the real test is coming right up with back to back games versus Boston - a team that has owned them so far this season...The real test will come as to where they end up when the new and improved Penguins come to town.
Leafs win again ! Week long road trip spanning two weekends playing four games winning three of them.
Now a tough two games vs Boston.
Gustavsson played well, a little lucky a couple times, but which goalie is not. This is the guy Burke envisioned when he signed him.

Boston owns the Leafs for the past 2 years and the Leafs can keep 2nd overall if they split the series. Let's hope the bruin drought end this week.

And if it were "the" test please tell us what exactly is being tested? Whether they can win the cup or whether they'll get close to the cup or whether they'll make the playoffs. What exactly are they being tested for?
Things are looking up for Ron Wilson and none to soon.
Team playing well, PP is going good and PK although not ideal, has been better this year.

Cannot let Wilson go now, but I wonder how Boudreau would fit in Toronto ?

Bobby Ryan of the Anaheim Ducks is on the trade block, according to Nick Kypreos from SportsNet. He further says that since Brian Burke drafted him when he was GM of Anaheim that Burke would/should/is interested in bringing him to Toronto. OK, another talented player for the Leafs, good. If true, Ryan is yet another American who would join the ever growing list of US born players(and management) on the Leafs. It is like Team USA North.
