I've always had a thing for his car, lol. But seriously, I do.I admit that I've always had a thing for Steve McQueen.
Yes he definitely was....The King of Cool
He was THE coolest guy of his era. Next level of cool below him was Paul Newman, James Garner and James Coburn. Also Sean Connery. The King of Cool
Woman wanted to be with him , guys wanted to be him.On screen he's the type of guy that appeals to both sexes. It's easy too see why he was box office gold for many years.
I
LOL, I was watching "The Getaway" on TCM yesterday and thought the same thingDied at age 50.
Way too young.
Think about it.
Sir Steve McQueen won a Best Picture Oscar for 12 Years a Slave, Brad Pitt was the Executive Producer. He also made Shame and Widows and he just completed a series called Small Axe which follows the struggles of an Indian family living in London from 1969 onward.Sir Steve McQueen is the first Black filmmaker to win the Best Picture Oscar, how cool is that?
he did have a stuntman for the motorcycle jump. his close friend, bud ekins. ekins did some of the driving also in "BULLITT".He was THE coolest guy of his era. Next level of cool below him was Paul Newman, James Garner and James Coburn. Also Sean Connery.
But McQueen, Garner and Coburn in one movie was awesome. No stunt man needed for the motorcycle scene. "Hiltz! Cooler."
mcqueen was part of a group that got a patent for over the shoulder seat belts.and no seat belt for stevie. now that's impressive.
