Gloria Steinem died on Wednesday, September 2 at age 92.

Steinem lied about her age to get a job at the New York Playboy Club in 1963.



She quit after 11 days because the costume was too tight.

In the early 1970's, Gloria married Mike, a Polish guy who spent several years in University to avoid serving in Vietnam, but he always wore an army fatigue jacket.

Other than reporting the news of Ms Steinem's death, post #1 wasn't intended to be taken seriously.

Steinem was 28 years old when she responded to an job advertisement looking for women aged 21-24. In the magazine article in which she wrote about the eleven day experience, she complained about the tight fit of the costume. That would likely have not been as much of an issue for a younger woman with a thinner/ more toned waist, the group to whom the job position was marketed. Women lying about their age and their vital measurements is an acceptable practice - to women.

Steinem was virtually unknown before her article was published. The idea that she took the job solely for the purpose of writing an expose about the experience might be revisionist history. Without that experience, however, (whether it was pleasant or not), she might not have accomplished anything sufficiently noteworthy in life for notice of her death at age 92 to be deemed newsworthy.

Irrespective of my like or dislike of Steinem I am of the view that
men are beneficiaries of the feminist movement.

Until the middle of the 20th century an average guy in the
western world has to be either rich or visit the brothel to
have sex with a woman other than his wife. Thanks to their
liberation, women has since the early 60's begun shedding
off their inhibition. Today it is nothing astonishing for a typical
white college gal to have opened up her legs to 20 different
boys through 4 years of partying on campus. Women in the
world of entertainment can now feel free to disrobe and
moan on screen as well as stripping nude for audiences
on the stage.

Though many of them are less than desirable I do respect the
feminists who paved the path to sexual freedom for women a lot.

I don't know. It seems like men were benefiting from the 60s and 70s period of feminism, even nutcases like Charles Manson who should not have benefited.
Various reasons for that besides the obvious economics and legal, including boomer population distortion(women generally hook up with slightly older men) and infant mortality rates(started to decline for boys in the 60s) and I guess the Vietnam casualties.
Talk to the older front end boomer women and a lot of them did not like that period. The whole situation started reversing for the younger boomer women in the 1980s.
As for kids today, do they even party at all?
