It's very slim.So then you are basically arguing that Ovechkin has no desire to set the record.

He has a very slim desire to break 99's record? It's very slim.
After the Lightning fiasco, I think this rule is or should be under review.Of course he could always retire early and go on “LTIR”.
Not reallyThat fact that he did it with Washington.... is impressive on it's own, whether he gets it done or not.
its 165 not 211.Never gonna happen
211 goals? Even at a 40 goal per season pace he needs more than 5 more productive years. Already 36 this year (Sep birthday)
So playing (well) into his 42nd year? In this days NHL?
Not really
It just made him into a terrible 1-way playing puck hog
His shooting percentage as an example is way below Gretzky
He has taken more shots on net than any other forward in the history of the NHL
And of course, his selfish play has in most people's minds cost Washington more championships
Alot of people think that Crosby is a way more well rounded player (championships & 2-way play) and that if not for injury Crosby would have exceeded Ovi
Gretz played in WHAits 165 not 211.
So then you are basically arguing that Ovechkin has no desire to set the record.
Actually, he needs 246. Howe had 975 total.Gretz played in WHA
It's 211 if Ovi wants to be #1 in goals
Well the other poster was talking scoring more goals than Gretz but good catch on HoweActually, he needs 246. Howe had 975 total.
That's like saying Babe Ruth is irrelevant.Well the other poster was talking scoring more goals than Gretz but good catch on Howe
Hull is irrelevant as he was already passed by Howe
Gretzky scored a lot against shit teams too...that’s why they’re shit teams.I don't know if this was mentioned on a subsequent post in this thread, but I read somewhere that Ovechkin scores a disproportionate number of his goals against weak opposition and in blowout games. I don't have the stats to confirm or back that up.
