EVH and Babe Ruth died from oral cancer - it was preventable. They lived hard, constantly smoking and drinking. EVH's tongue cancer infected his lungs, The Bambino had inoperable nasal cancer at the point where his sinuses connected to his throat. Eddie was a chain smoker, The Bambino smoked four cigars a day minimum. Eddie was 65 and Ruth was 53 when they passed.

The good news is I will be attending the Rush concert on Aug 9th at Scotiabank. I paid for my ticket today. The day before, the nurse returns to shove a catheter up my prick. I'm also attending my third Dweezil Zappa concert in Nov at Danforth Music Hall, hopefully I won't need to brutalize my prick a second time.

Hang in there, Von!

The doctor is in
Ripping huge farts!

A week ago Monday, I had my first round of chemotherapy, two days worth. They gave me medication to take which turned to be even worse poison than the chemo. On Wednesday I was able to hold it down after chasing it with pho broth. Thursday was a different matter, no pho broth, my brain sent my stomach the signal "get that garbage outta there". I'll spare the gory details of what happened next, it lasted from Thursday afternoon until 5:00 AM Friday morning.

This week was somewhat better, I felt like Curly Howard. He said he tried to think but nothing happened, I had waves of nausea but nothing happened. I was told by the nurse who administered the chemo that I could eat what I wanted but I had to avoid alcohol and spicy food. I tested what she told by having Thai Green Curry for lunch. Not long after, I had the most horrendous after taste in my mouth. It was like I had eaten Ceiling Cat's pussy with Homelander eyes. Then it got spectacular, the spirit of Andre the Giant possessed me. I started ripping some of the longest, loudest farts in my life...it was extraordinary. Needless to say that new Korean Restaurant that opened up in my neighbourhood will have to wait. My oncologist will have to explain why she though I could handle two poisons at once.

Jake explains how Andre got the Fezzik role in The Princess Bride.

I’m really sorry to hear that… My dad went through the same thing. I’ve often wondered how I’d react if it was me. There’s no way to know for sure, but I don’t think I’d want to put myself through that… You’re braver than I am, Sir - wishing you all the best!

Sam Niell died from complications from Lymphoma, I survived it. He's older than I am, I may not be so lucky the next time around.

Ron Bennington, the Godfather of NYC comedy, has terminal colon cancer. He's still doing his radio show and providing moral support for comics in crisis. He's become NYC's Walter Cronkite. One of his "patients" was Sarah Sherman, who sought his counsel after her Aimee Lou Wood spoof bombed.

Aimee Lou Wood is blistering hot!

Just to give a quick update, for the last 6 weeks it was pure fucking hell! I will officially retired at the end of May I made a promise to myself that I would look after my mother as best I could so every other day I would visit her have a quick meal prepared so on so forth. I talked to her Saturday the next day I told her I’ll be up there with food and we could watched the German soccer game, well that didn’t happen I spoke to her at 630, and I received a telephone call at 11:45 saying my mother passed away.

No problem do it early in the morning well it didn’t turn out that way I woke up that morning and I was still having the effects of the treatment every joint in my body ached, but I persevered. I was almost home when I had a “ new Canadian”spook the dog. While Rex went into full protection mode spun me around and I hit the ground you talk about pain I stated I just want to shoot myself. After about 15 minutes of pain I continued on with the walk. About half hour later I had for girl guides coming up to the house asking me if I wanted to do self-harm.

I told him all you could do was take me to the hospital have a mental evaluation and then I’ll be on my way now, I can shoot myself in the head, open up the electrical panel and take 200 A or if that doesn’t work I have about 150 OxyContin pills here and others and I have a wide assortment of alcohol. You will not stop me! They were there for about 45 minutes I basically had to ask him like either take me to the hospital or go on and write some parking tickets.

On by the way 1 of the side effects is suicide they don’t tell you tell you that upfront. At the end of May instead of my 3 week cycle it’s now moved up to 6 weeks and I go for my round this weekend. What really irks me is on Friday I have 2 appointments one day take 2 vials of blood and the 2nd 1 shortly thereafter is an appointment with the oncologist. And that takes about 4 hours of your day, remember this is not an emergency ward nobody comes in there on a stretcher nobody comes screaming in. You just go up to the counter state your name and appointment time and then wait and wait and wait. Same thing with the treatment which by the way a friend of mine told me it’s between 12 and $15,000 for 400 mL must be the good stuff but anyways you sit in a chair, they pop an IV into your arm. Run a saline solution for about 15 minutes and then another 15 to 20 minutes the good stuff goes in. And then you’re on your merry way for 6 weeks. What I can’t understand the clinic only operates 8 to 4 Monday to Friday and Saturday morning you get treatment with the amount of people, that get sick like I said run it around the clock you want your treatment at 2 in the morning I’m pretty sure they’ll find someone to fill that space.

In closing I hope everyone is doing well with their treatment, as for me I found humour to be a good cheap medicine.

Once again thank you

Tongue cancer is a bitch. That’s what I have. Had about half my tongue removed to try and stop it, but now it’s returned to my tongue and the floor of my mouth. Chemo is not a viable option, looks like more surgery is my only hope. From what I’ve read, life with no tongue at all is not pleasant. The surgeon even brought up the idea of MAIDS, saying that I would have to make a “quality of life “ decision. Just had a MRI yesterday to determine how extensive the cancer is and what the surgery would entail. I might just reject it and ride out the end of my days. Good wishes from my TERB brothers would be welcomed. At least I am single with no kids, but I do know the people that love me are going to miss my sparkling personality, keen wit, gorgeous looks, and most of all my humility. Gotta keep a sense of humour.

Chemotherapy is gory and it does take most of your day. Such was my life from October to January, non-stop chemical venom going through your veins. I feel for you fellas, it's brutal.

Health Canada just spooked me, they keep sending out memos about tick infestation. I'm afraid to go out on my Humber Trail hikes. If I get bitten by a tick my chances of surviving Lyme Disease are zero. Maybe I can spend my time craving hatred in my immediate family. Then after I pass they can dig a pit, roll me out in a wheelbarrow, dump me in and pour quicklime over me. Nothing like dark humour to brighten a smoky day.

My understanding is that if you take a shower after coming in it will remove the tick...Still though I understand your hesitancy.
