‘It’s another one of those head scratching decisions that Keefe makes. You should always have your best lineup starting 3 on 3 and Rielly is a much better choice. The ot loss was all on McCabe. Rielly would never have made that stupid pass that led to an icing and he then allowed his check to go to net free.

It’s a pretty lackadaisical effort by Nylander if you ask me. Hope we won’t see many of those again.

If Colorado is a measuring stick team for Stanley Cup Championships, then the Leafs have a long way to go.

The refs certainly gave all the help Colorado needed for the comeback and Jones didn’t make any key saves. On the bright side the 3rd and 4th lines and Rielly were really good.

The bigger concern is how the older guys are going to be. Brodie, Giordano and Tavares looked slow and weak.

Sure but Championship teams learn to overcome that, the Leafs didn't do it. Plus the Leafs PP sucks of late not sure if it would help them, the Avs would've scored shorthanded.

The reffing was pretty shitty. And I agree our 3rd and 4th lines played well. Domi had one of his best games of the year. Same with Jarnkrok. But damn McCabe has been struggling the past couple of games. Inexcusable though to squander a 3 goal lead like that, especially on home ice. Some of that blame lands on the coach's shoulders. We've done this far too often.

Wonder how Willy will perform after signing that $92mm contact. All that money must be heavy to carry.

So quiet here when the Leafs are floundering. Where’s Reaves when we need a scapegoat?

Where‘s that new “sticking up for each other attitude “ after your best player was cross checked in the ribs ?

I think Matthews is playing hurt after that crosscheck. The ribs gotta be sore.

Under Keefe it’s always the same story, our player gets a cheap shot nothing happens. Whenever one of our guys throws a big hit he has to answer the bell and takes some punches. It happened to McCabe and Benoit. Keefe’s only response is to yell at the refs.

Yeah, I was surprised that Mathews and Rielly have a total of only 6 PIM.

Oilers are the hottest team right now. 10-0-0 in their last 10. They are primed for an upset by the Leafs.

All-time Leafs goals:

1. Sundin 420
2. Sittler 389
3. Keon 365
4. Matthews 333

Will Matthews catch Keon this season?

I have no complaints about the way these two have been playing. They’ve been the Leafs’ best players along with Nylander, up until he signed his multi million extension anyway. Kudos to them for not taking dumb penalties.

The two guys who are not earning their pay imo are Brodie and Tavares.

Brodie is all about playing position and stick checking. Very seldom you see him engage in physical puck battles or knock a guy down in front of the next or along the boards. He is no where near as a shut down d man and that’s why the Leafs haven’t been able to protect leads with him playing major minutes in those situations. He has minimal Offensive contributions. If he’s a 2 million or less player then it would be decent value, but for 5 millions he has way too little to offer.

Since getting his 1000 point Tavares has been awful. It seems he’s always behind the play and gets caught from behind. He’s never been known for being a fast skater and it looks to me that he has lost a step this season. Maybe he’s suffering from some sort of nagging injury that we don’t know of and hopefully he can bounce back. He’s been fortunate to have the opportunity to play with the Matthews/Marner/Nylander/Rielly combo and produce the numbers, but he’d be lucky to get half of that had he stayed in Long Island. The Leafs could have saved 5 millions by keeping Kadri instead and he would have produced similar numbers playing with the aforementioned combo.

I probably have ruffled some feathers on the fans of Brodie and Tavares, but that‘s the way I see things and I welcome any different opinions.

Just to prove my points further, on the Hyman called back goal , Brodie just stationed there and tried to stick check instead of taking the body. Hyman just skated around him and scored. On the Oilers’ first goal it took Tavares a million years to skate back but couldn’t get there in time to cover Draisiatle.
