You missed the point.
Nylander gets tagged with all these mysterious hate.
Trying to figure out why Nylander is tagged with being inconsistent.
Matthews doesn't score every game. Doesn't mean he's inconsistent.
It's not a shot at Matthews. He's playing great but he doesn't score every game.
That's my point.
Wasn't even a shot at Marner either with his zero goals in the playoffs.
Another one is Nylander is only performing because of contract year.
Well check out his playoff performances for at least the last 3 years.
Another is he gets knocked down easily. This was the most ludicrous one.
Or that he doesn't go to the front of the net.
It seems to me that anyone who criticizes Willy is a “hater” . I’m sure I’m another one of those in your eyes.
”Mysterious hate” ? It’s mysterious to you only because you just turn a blind eye to his shot comings. In your mind you’re just looping all the high lite plays he makes but his half ass efforts, missing checks and selfish plays “mysteriously disappear” from your memory.
Sure Matthews and Marner have had bad games, but unlike Nylander, at least their effort’s are there the majority of time. I’ve always said Nylander has just as much if not more pure offensive talent but it’s the lack of effort, more so in years prior to this season, is holding him back from becoming a great player. So far this season he’s proving how great he can be with consistent great efforts.
I’ve heard your argument that it was because of his development and not his contract year that he’s playing great. Such a mysterious coincidence that he waited till his contract year to blossom but perhaps we can revisit this debate a few years after he gets his next big contract.
I don’t hate Willy the person, in fact I think he’s a good guy from what I can gather from the print and tv media. The fact that he takes the subway to work hints that he is maybe a down to earth kind of guy. I praise him when I see good effort and don’t think that I have a hate on Swedes. In fact Salming is my all time favourite Leaf. If you’re old enough to have watched him play you’d know what “effort, heart and grit” mean.
