Bring back Mike Nykoluk.

If they wanted to crush the spirit of a good young golatender, they did it last night. Don't kid yourself, the Loafs are just as bad as the Oilers. Four Loafs standing around discussing who makes the best cupcake while the Sens player gets a clear SOG and scores. It's not just Treliving, the Loafs defense has gotten worse every year since 2021. The Kings, who are building a balanced club, cake to Scotiabank Arena and opened a a great big can of whoop ass on the Loafs. The Canucks beat the Oilers on three occasions already.

Leafs goaltending isn't that bad. Although Woll has been better than Samsonov recently. Their D OTOH is terrible. Actually, worse than terrible.

Tavares has 432 goals at present.He's 33.

Question for the board. If he scores 500 is he a hall of famer?

Baring injury he's most likely going to get there.
I suppose P. Turgeon would be a good comparable.
Turgeon had 515 career goals and just slightly above a point per game.
He's finally in apparently.
Tavares is just slightly below a point per game but he's been very consistent through his whole career.
His points per game rate is almost identical with NYI and Toronto.
Tavares looks to be a slightly less than Turgeon but very close.

Considering how consistent he's been his whole career and how he looks this year I say he gets to 500 goals.
That's 25 goals for the next 3 years. He has 5 goals this year in 13 games. 14 pts also so that is the pace he needs to maintain. He's also on the first PP unit.

Plus Tavares has had international success which counts.

The Leafs will lose to the red-hot Canucks, that's a given, the Leafs have trouble against Demko. But if the Leafs lose to Calgary, something has to be done. I would send Klingberg to the AHL, FFS any Marlies defenceman can defend better than Klingberg.

The Canucks bit the bullet, they had losing seasons now they have a complete team. What the Blackhawks did is even more impressive, they had the No. 1 pick, so they partnered him with Taylor Hall. Then they went out and picked up Seth Jones in a blockbuster trade. Meanwhile the Loafs were asleep at the wheel.

Don't bring Klingberg to the Sweden trip. Vancouver will skate circles around him on Sat. Reaves if they don't send him to the Marlies, dress him but he only plays 4 mins, roll 11 forwards, and give Matthews, Marner, and Nylander extra ice time. Suddenly Justin Holl looks like a Norris candidate to Leaf fans.

Part of the Canucks rejuvenation was a change of coaches that resulted in a major improvement. Do you thimk with the current Leafs line up a coaching change would result in the same type of improvement?

The Canucks benefited from an old-school coach in Tochet, Tochet isn't afraid to bench any star player if he is playing shit, I think the Leafs can benefit from an old-school coach like Joel Quenneville but the NHL won't reinstate him yet.

Klingberg is a terrible defenseman. Look at his +/- the past few years. Not a smart acquisition.
Liljegren being out is really hurting us. As is our 4th line - they have been horrific.
I think we are going to need to acquire a solid D man and perhaps another goalie, unless Samsonov can get his head right.

I'm happy for Rick Tochet, Wayne Gretzky threw him under a bus over his brain dead wife's gambling addiction. Now the Canucks are spanking the Oilers, revenge is a dish served with cold cuts.

not always sure...

Calgary?
Calgary in 12 games have 4 wins in regulation time.
Toronto in 13 games have 3 regulation time wins.

Anything can happen in one game.
And if Calgary were to win, is that even an upset?

People need to stop crapping on the goaltenders.
Vegas in their playoff run last year went through 4 goaltenders, losing 3 to injury.
They all looked good and competent because of the team structure in front of them, keeping shots to the perimeter.
It's not because they were way better than Woll or Samsonov.

Some perspective here.
Woll has started 6 games with a .913 save percentage
Only 11 players in the entire league who have started in 6 or more games have a better save percentage.
Let's not trade Matthews for a bag of pucks after each game he doesn't score.

The worse thing they can do to screw up the development of a young promising goalie is to put a horrible defensive core in front of him, and that‘s exactly what the Leafs are doing to Woll. He may still turn out to be a bust but he deserves better. Not only the defence men are bad, the forwards other than the core four aren’t putting up good effort defensively. The new additions, Bertuzzi, Domi, Reaves are not checking diligently and some dumb penalties by Bertuzzi. I’d say if they don’t play a better structured defence within the next 10-15 games, then Keefe may need to be replaced.[/QUOTE]

Klingberg was the 7th defenseman at practice today. What does that mean? Are the Leafs rolling 7D? Klingberg sits?

Rielly — Brodie
Giordano — McCabe
Benoit — Lagesson
Klingberg

Definitely 7 D.
This is Keefe's way of protecting him.
Play him only on the power play or when they are down and need a goal.
If Leafs get the lead he'll be stapled to the bench.

Thing is he hasn't been that good on the PP either.
Rielly has been better but they want to save Rielly for 5 on 5 where he has been excellent.
Both he and Brodie are +6 leading the team.

Through 13 games Rielly leads the team in even strength time on ice and it's not even close. 21:56
Brodie is next at 18:55
Shockingly Klingberg is 3rd at 17:15
Next 3 are Matthews, Marner, and Nylander.
Then Lili, McCabe, Gio, Tavares, Bert in that order.
