The Dodgers suck now, too.Guardians blow another game, and Jays now just 3 games out WC spot
Another way of looking at it: The Jays are 9 games behind the Red Sox, and there are six teams ahead of them for that 6th Wild Card spot.Guardians blow another game, and Jays now just 3 games out WC spot

Vladdy out of lineup again while dealing with hamstring tightness 2:58 PM EDTVladdie not in lineup for 2nd day in a row.
Whats going here??
A football team is losing by 30 points at the start of the fourth quarter, and the announcer says 'four quick touchdowns, and they're right back in this game!'so they have to get hotter than all the 6 teams better than them while hoping no team behind them gets hotter
WC is a bunch of clever marketing to keep fans interested
Led the American league not the Major Leagues...Actually Yankees had 94 as well. NY went 9-1 down the stretch to tie them.Last year the Blue Jays led the Major Leagues with 94 regular season wins, (.580 winning percentage). If they maintain a .586 percentage for the last 46 games, they'll finish at .500 for the season.
My bad.Led the American league not the Major Leagues...Actually Yankees had 94 as well. NY went 9-1 down the stretch to tie them.
Phillies had 96 and Brewers had 97.
There is a box office, but the district is usually sold out. It's been years since I've seen a Blue Jays game at the stadium.
This may sound like a stupid question, but is there still a box office to buy a ticket just before the game? I'm planning to get general admission in the outfield district for Thursday afternoon vs the Red Sox.
Thanks!
He’s half Thai on mommy’s sideThe skinny on Brett Bateman:
Bateman was acquired from the Chicago Cubs with Shortstop Ty Southisene for Kevin Gausman on August 3.
He made his Major League debut in Center Field and batting 9th on Friday night, with a double in his first at bat, finishing 1 for 2 with two walks.
He's a plus fielder, he steals bases and he has a good batting eye and plus plate discipline - 62 BBs in 359 Plate Appearances at AAA level in 2026; 220 walks vs 254 strikeouts in four minor league seasons.
Not much in the power department - Isolated Power, (Slugging Pct - Batting Average), .109 for 2026 and .061 for his four years in the minors. He's clearly either fully or partially Asian. My guess is that he's descended from the Viet Namese 'boat people', many of whom settled in Minnesota - he was born in St Paul, and he's a Golden Gophers alumnus.

The Jays are also 23rd overall in Major League standings. They need to finish in the bottom six, or move up in the draft lottery, to avoid having their first pick in next July's amateur draft drop by ten spots, because of their salary cap situation. Fifteen of their twenty-four games in September are on the road.
Next up on the August schedule: 1 Game tomorrow afternoon at Chicago Cubs, 3 @ Phillies, 4 home vs Red Sox, 3 home vs Yankees, 3 @ Rays, 3 @ Yankees, 3 home vs Royals and Mariners. They are scheduled to play 23 games in the next 25 days.
Meanwhile the Athletics are working their way down to the bottom of the League standings. They're now only one game ahead of the Angels and Rockies. The WC possibilities sounds like we are only 4 games out so we got a chance but it is the number of other teams that are also 4 games out or less that count as you have to beat every single one of them
There are 6 teams we have to beat but our odds are far greater than 1 in 7 as we are behind everyone
