The runner had scored before the third out at first so it counts but the runner at third had not tagged so was illegal but the Jays had to appeal by throwing ball to third and they did not. It was a mistake by the Jays that allowed the run scored

The Jays argued the umpire had called the team off the field so were not given a chance to appeal but the umpire calling the defense off the field is the opportunity for the Jays to appeal because as long as the team is on the field they can still appeal

Sounds like Schneiders fault to me

He is the brains so he should of yelled at players to throw to third as they were coming off field but he did not

The scoreboard operator screwed up. There was one out, and the scoreboard showed two. Somebody on the Red Sox should have brought that to the Umpires' attention. The runner on third would have tagged up instead of running on contact, if he had known there was only one out.

All MLB players are told every year not to go by the scorebaord. Even after the game some Boston players didn't blame the scoreboard, but rather took responsibility for the mistake.

Trade you weakest link to the team you're chasing for a wildcard spot. Kinda genius.
Because we are scapegoating, if only they could’ve exiled him in the midst of last World Series before he could cough up that tying run in Game 7 😫

It's not as if Red Sox' interim 3rd base coach Chad Epperson had a whole lot more to do in that situation.

When I was a kid growing up and watching and learning about baseball, I always laughed when the fielders would tell each other how many outs there were in between batters. It didn't take long to learn how important that actually is. This game illustrates that.

First time (outside of a betting context) that I scoreboard watched this season. Just to see if Twins and Rangers lose so that Jays stay in the third wildcard after tonight

Jays have to sweep today.

No bullshit!!
Are you a believer that getting in is their only hurdle? That once the Jays are in the postseason, they will use the experience from last year’s WS run to go all the way this time.

Its all about who gets hot in the playoffs.
You can have the best team on paper like the Dodgers do, but if they hit a slump during the playoffs it means nothing

The sad part is that the Dodgers were indeed slumping last World Series (minus pitcher Yoshi) and the Jays still couldn’t finish them off. If the Dodgers were playing to their full potential, they would’ve beaten Toronto in no more than 5 games, which I would’ve preferred over it being agonizingly close.

.5 games out of WC but we have easy schedule going forward after Tampa Bay we got New York without Judge then losing clubs and some of the teams also in WC race so we are in it and it is in our hands

Never saw that coming but Jays were cagey as they kept enough players to potentially compete knowing other WC teams did not so now they will sell out the skydome rest of year

Even without Vlad we are in it and if he does start hitting then we should make it

One thing I never liked was their sub .500 regular season road record the last two times that the Jays won the division (2015 and 2025) which were also the two deepest playoff runs since the 1993 WS title
