I think one can say the attack by Hamas was horrific and attacking civilians is the definition of terror. But, you can also say that the people of Gaza don't deserve what's happening to them because of Hamas. Israel does have a right to defend itself. However, the collective punishment of all the people in Gaza is technically a war crime. Cutting off food, water and power to them while bombing the shit out of the strip is not going to help the situation.
And, to be honest, I have no idea how to fix this. Smarter people than myself have tried for decades to little or no success...or at least no lasting peace.
I agree with just about everything you say except for the bolded part.
I look at it not necessarily as a war crime. It is simply war. Bad shit happens to innocent people during wars. And stuff like this has been going on for thousands of years and has been used hundreds of times.
It's a modern day version of a siege. Surround and isolate the city. Cut the city off from the rest of civilization. It's an old tactic.
Maybe, instead of building tunnels, buying munitions etc. with all the international aid that Gaza has received over many years, they used that money to work on their own infrastructure they wouldn't have needed to allow Israel to be in control of their utilities.
Another example of how Hamas does not care about their citizens and Frank supports their suffering.
p.s. I don't know to fix the situation peacefully, either.
