The other asterisk that should be beside the breaking of Parent's record is how many OT or SO wins Brodeur and Luongo (who reached 47 yesterday) have. Parent had 12 ties in 73-74. He most likely would have converted a lot of those into wins, given the chance.blueline said:

The Sabers did look bad the last couple of times against the Leafs, for whatever reason. Based on that alone the Leafs might be slightly more likely to knock the Sabers out of the draw thereby doing the rest of the conference a big favour. Also I think the Devils and most other teams are much more comfortable with the possibility of meeting the Leafs later on in the playoffs as opposed to the Islanders. I believe this Islander team would spook the rest of the conference if they were to get in and make it through the first round.

I have been watching the game. The Devils are not mounting any form of attack on the offence. The Islander goal was a lousy one. If that was a game that the Devils needed, Park would be eating a fistfull of stick. He was just standing there sucking a on lolly pop, unattended. The Devils are just chasing and watching the puck. Serves the Leafs right though, that loss to New Jersey a while back when they let a 5-1 lead go to shit, the loss in Buffalo when they let a 4-1 lead go to shit and then the Islander game this past week. Had they got a meesley point in the Islander game, Leafs are in.
Its funny to hear McCave say he is going to church on today. Buddy should of been going since he got his fat overpriced contract, so that maybe God could of worked a miracle and showed him the light on how to play defense.
Oh well, I bleed blue, but having the Leafs not make the playoffs hopefully wakes up that douche bag Peddy and hopefully they make changes in the front office. Hopefully Peddie accidently throws himself out the ACC office window ala Father Damien in the Exorcist. That guy is a total tulip in the closet!

Many Sabres fans are hoping the Leafs don't make it to the play offs. Not that they are concerned about who will win, but that the price of tickets on Ebay and other resellers will go right thru the roof, as Leaf fans will pay any amount of money to see their team play and loose.Also home tix for the Islanders will be selling at close to face value.
