...I agree team defense and d-men on this team are suspect at best, but when you get 51 shots...and contrary to clowny's assertion, the chances the Leafs had were quality chances. That's the kind of game where you should have 7 or 8 goals, and the team D weaknesss can be masked for a bit..But no question improving the D and Team D will be the # 1 priority for this team to be even contending for post season play..

new2game, we can't blame the coach or the players... Lindros is low-balled and sent looking elsewhere... we spend all of any free cap space on McCabe, Gill, Kubina, Antropov, Kaberle and soon to be Tucker... what can we hope for?

18.45 Million bucks are tied up in the leafs top 4 Dmen... you'd expect them to be the strongest defensive team in the league with those #'s! that's alot of cap space...

even the mighty ducks wouldn't spend more than $15.02 Million on their top 4 and they landed Scott Niedermayer and Chris Pronger!

yep... and he lied about giving Sundin more ice time this season. he currently averages 20:08 minutes of ice per game... last season he averaged 21:42 before his injury and 19:12 after the injury.

I'd say 5th best. They have the 3rd most points but Montreal and Pittsburgh have better winning percentages.

Lueeeafs hand Buffalo their first regulation loss of the season.

Toronto 4 - Buffalo 1

Forward notables:
Sundin had two goals and an assist
Tucker and Jeff O'Neill added 1 goal each
Wellwood played excitingly well

a big win and improves the leafs as they have won four of five since a 7-2 loss at Ottawa over a week ago.

Defense notables:
Brendan Bell looked slow (not up to NHL speed)- especially on Johan Hecht's goal.
Tomas Kaberle recorded an assist on Tucker's goal, and has 10 points in his last five games.
Another strong game by Hal Gill, though with a little slip up in the 2nd.
McCabe, though voted 1 of the 3 stars looked off defensively, like most nights.
