Being the one that started this thread, I can confidently say that my loyalty as a Leaf fan was tested during my abscence from the season's updates. When I heard the team was losing games and dropping losses left and right I knew the new NHL was just not what Ferguson had planned it would be. Our team was filled with veterans that were either on the way down or past their prime. The injuries seemed to have lingered all the way through the gruesome season as well. The Olympic break served Sundin well, and I am happy to see him taste some sort of victory, meanwhile having to come back to the poorly contructed team in the
home of hockey. The chase for the cup however, is something that I as a Leaf fan won't be able to see for yet another season. I am still a Leaf fan or should I say I am only a Leaf fan rather then a hockey fan. I'll watch the playoffs, I might get excited about a game or two, but ultimately I'll still be poutting and debating how for the first time in I think 8 seasons we couldn't make the playoffs. It is what it is. I also think Quinn got the shitty end of the deal where he was fired instead of Ferguson, but that is a holw different thread and issue all together.
So I guess this thread will rest for the remainder of the off-season and perhaps will be rejuvinated in the fall. I must say 21pro, I am thankful that you kept this thread going for the entirety of the season during my absence to Asia.
Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) have alot of work on their hands for the next few months and it will be interesting to see what the
board does during this some what crucial time. Attention now can be diverted to our beloved Blue Jays. They are closer then the Raptors or the Leafs are to bringing another major championship to this city. Its going to be a good summer...GO JAYS!!!
