Um....so I am in a cult if I am anti-something? How does that even work, dude?
When you post something that makes sense and original or your own opinion vs regurgitating the anti musk cool aid rhetoric then we can talk.

They won’t tell you Teslas are the safest car out ATM, even if I do your brain is automatically programmed to ignore it because it doesn’t fit the cool AID they feed you and you throw it up like verbal diarrhea like jonestown

When we tell you Tesla Model Y is the best selling car in the world show you numbers you will just ignore it. You will ignore all those people that bought them that drive them and long term Tesla owners who love their cars and can give you many valid reasons why they are the best cars

This is how I know the anti musk cult has imprisoned your free will taken your ability to have free thoughts and robbed your potential from enjoying engineering masterpieces by getting you to shill for the MSN machine who are threatened by Musk because he refuses to lick the behinds of their major investors like black rock and vanguard to name a few. I am glad they have minions like you happily defending them to your end.

This is how I know you are in a cult which you have 0 awareness of that you are actually in.

While there's an anti-musk crowd, you're mistaking them for people who don't like EVs in general. Why? Because they're too expensive for the average consumer, coupled with the fact they're not as practical as inexpensive ICE vehicles. There's a large percentage of the population who wants nothing more than a reliable 10+ year old Civic, Corolla etc. Which you can purchase for very little money and drive for another 10+ years. Not to mention, once there's more used 10+ year old EVs with original batteries on the market, many consumers will steer clear of them for fear of reduced range and replacement battery costs.

I'm sure EVs will improve. But until there's more charging stations, the price comes way down and they're just as convenient to operate as an ICE vehicles, you won't see people jumping on the bandwagon. That's the part you don't understand.

I understand that part I just don’t agree with it.

You are forgetting the 3rd type of car that many just lump into hybrid or electric but they are neither. It’s the plug in hybrid that has the best of both worlds and they are cost efficient over its life and can also serves
as a generator for your house or tools.

There is a lot of FUD these people are buying that is just not true. How do I know, I used to own a gas guzzling SUV that would cost $100 per week on gas and now I pay $60-70 ever 3rd week and have everything I had on my previous SUV plus more such as instant torque. I did lose with the seating 7 seater vs 8 and less towing capacity which is not really a big deal. The AWD is far superior because it’s instant and car accelerates very quickly and low centre of gravity meaning it gives me better handling for a car that size. My range is on 55L tank and 20 kWh battery is about 800 km vs 500km before on a 74 litre tank. With plugging it in I get on average 1200-1500km per fuel tank. Means I save at least $2500 on gas on year and can charge at home easily by plugging into regular outlet.

Also I get 10 years on battery and have never held on to a car for thank long. My average is like 5 years. How many people own a car for more then 10 years…not your average car owner.

If you get a plug in hybrid it’s comparable to regular cars in that price range. I.e ford escape plug in hybrid and Mitsubishi plug in hybrid are comparable to regular SUV cars at that price range. You can get even cheaper plug in hybrid like Kona. Then you save on gas over long run.

I am happy to save with my PHEV such as $12k just on gas over like 5 years and that’s being conservative.

So there is three types of people on here the anti musk, anti EV, the MSM shills all that believe are experts in what they are saying but have no clue what they are actually saying. I am not saying everyone but many of them have no clue what they are saying.

While I agree for some it doesn’t make sense for PHEV or electric, overall in city driving it makes sense and you can save money. Also my stands is that PHEV is still the way to go vs electric because you have two sources of fuel and can save money vs electric. Electric is still inconvenient but is ultimately the way to go especially if you have solar panels, batteries in house to store power and can sell back to grid. Electric is a good option for your second vehicle. Also Tesla vehicles are technologically superior and efficient than anything out on the market now especially with the cyber truck release. Yes I would love to have that car but as a pleb I doesn’t make financial sense over long run.

you won't see people jumping on the bandwagon,,,,,,,,, Actually the jumping has been happening for years that's why the model " Y " is the number one selling car on the entire planet. That much more than an imaginary statistical aplomb is worth something. How did it achieve that statistic if there are no chargers? Look at the Cyber truck pre-orders there are 2 million of them and the cost of a new unit is enormous. The saving grace for Tesla is that there are enough customers in today's global economy who are affluent enough to purchase EVs despite the price, and the charger fairy tale is just silly. If you look for actual statistics with verified sources the sensibility of EV success is obvious. Sure there will be ICE buyers that need a ten-year-old Carolla but that is a dying scenario and the global EV market strategy is to get the price of a new EV unit below $25,000 USD. This will happen in 2024 from 7 different sources including Tesla.

A guy on foot laughed at the first guy on a horse
A guy on a horse laughed at the first guy in a gas-powered automobile
A guy in an ICE car laughed at the first EV

This is the social stigma around human evolution and technological change, every one of these scenarios proposed insurmountable difficulties in the successor modality being successful, and yet despite there only being one gas station [ Charging Station ] on the entire planet at one time look where we are.

These anti-EV cries are the faint whimperings of the last dinosaur after the big asteroid strike. I have an ICE car and I have a model S plaid and the change is for the better. You will find most detractors of EVs are not owners but rather just critics but those of us who own EVs know the truth, we know that EV-denying ICE fanatics will go kicking and screaming into an EV future like it or not, change is for the better. You can take it to a charging station or you can take it up the ass either way you're going to get electrified.

I have no problem with PHEV. In fact, I think they're a great idea which gives consumers excellent options. My problem is with the Feds who want to ban ICE and PHEV in 2035. Forcing consumers who want a new vehicle, no choice except to purchase a 100% EV.

Not in Canada it isn't. It's not even in the top 10 for 2023. In fact, the top 2 selling vehicles are pickup trucks. This is Canada, after all. I'll believe people in this country have jumped on the bandwagon when Tesla or any other EV is the #1 selling vehicle in Canada. 🍿

Since they've only delivered 500 units to date, people are going to be waiting years for one.

I'll say it again. I'm sure EVs will improve. But until there's more charging stations, the price comes way down and they're just as convenient to operate as an ICE vehicle, you won't see people jumping on the bandwagon. Not in this country anyway.

Then there's the issue of infrastructure, like this article points out. Not saying it's impossible, but I highly doubt the targets they've set are even close to being realistic. Oh, and who's going to pay for this infrastructure? The government? They're broke. I suppose they could raise taxes, like they always do. Or maybe they'll have to levy some hefty fees for EV users. Since they don't pay for fuel, they've got lots of money to spare, right?

Things I learned reading this thread - Tesla doesn't release Model Y sales figures, but lumps them together with Model 3.

Yeah that’s a big problem.

If they don’t provide incentives like for solar roof and batteries free charging this will be a huge mistake for the people but a win for politicians.

Right now they are already messing with the TOU rates. Imagine if we all have 💯 reliance on the grid. They can turn on and off at will or charge based on TOU. What’s stopping them from rolling blackouts and then just blame it on the grid cant handle the demand…oops we underestimated. Then everyone pelb who doesn’t have solar and battery or natural gas generators or huge gas generators is forced to take public transit. What happens in a black out and storm or crises situation.

I don’t like reliance on 💯 electric either. I hope the people don’t fall for this scam. I assume the next step is having these green zones for Green Vehicles and tolls for the rest. I don’t see this going smoothly.

They should NOT ban PHEV by 2035 🙏 hopefully the people see what’s happening and resist this

I don't disagree. But hydrogen has been in the works for like 30 years. I recall there was a company in the early 2000s called Ballard Power Systems or something in BC. They were working on this, but it never got off the ground in a large way (as far as I know). Hydrogen is ideal, you burn it and it produces water. But....it is also kind of explosive....a la the Hindengerg...

But, all things considered, looking at what Tesla lied about the quality of its vehicles, random explosions seem par for the course...
Look at Ballard now, as well as many fuel cell vehicles that exist today, but are not as well known as Tesla. The major obstacle with PEMFC vehicles is infrastructure for hydrogen distribution. Ammonia reformers would help with infrastructure issues, as ammonia infrastructure exists throughout North America.
I would never consider the cybertruck, because production and disposal of lithium batteries wreak harm on the environment. Life cycle anslysis is never considered in the case of electric vehicles.
By the way, I briefly drove a focus fuel cell car at the Grove conference in the distant past, and it was quite the powerful beast. Ballard knows what they are doing.

My comment was deleted for some reason so I'll post it again.

This ugly POS looks like the Tesla engineers took a bunch of crayons to a kindergarten and asked the kids to draw a car.

Haters will say these are just Tesla fan boys…
1704469566862.png

Haters will also say Tesla is the best selling EV company of 2023 only because of the fanboys because they have nothing better to come up with…maybe the best they can say is they used crayons to draw them and it looks ugly 🤦‍♂️

Hopefully their MSM overlords can program them with something more clever to shill

The Cybertruck is very fast in a straight line, so it's no surprise it accelerates well in the snow as well. It however won't stop any quicker than any other truck with equivalent tires. And will surely make many drivers overconfident, as do many AWD vehicles. People don't think they need winter tires with AWD. That's why you see so many of them in the ditch when it snows.
