GTA & Thereabouts...
Threads like these remind my of my Grandfather. He was a farmer. He shot everything that came onto his land without hesitation. The rifles were hanging on the wall above the coats as soon as you walked in... That's if the rifle was not sitting against the wall beside the couch in the Summer Kitchen. You were told once... If you ever touched a gun thereafter, he'd beat you without hesitation.

A Grade 4 education is all you got back then. He loved my Grandmother, his family and God (and booze).

A Man's Man. I miss him. 😢

I find some coyotes if I am up and out early.
But this summer it has been a pair of red foxes we regularly see.
Singularly and together in morning and evening in my neighborhood. Beautiful animals

Someone posted a video earlier. Don't hate on 'em, embrace them!!!

Coyote meat tastes very good!!!

I let it sit on the fire of my green egg for around 8 hours. It is very similar to venison in terms o f taste and gets a little chewy if you don't slow cook it.

Ponderling is correct, coyotes move into areas with growing populations of small rodents. Being intelligent mammals, if you feed them - like bears, they will become aggressive. The coyotes that goes after dogs and cats may not be a coyote at all. Evolution doesn't take a break, something humans deny.

These critters are taking over - don't leave your pets outdoors.

Humans have took over, so we forced them to survive in our concrete jungles.

I don't know what is Coyotes and Burlington, another woman got bit.

Woman bitten on knee in Burlington's seventh coyote attack

Burlington is reporting its seventh unprovoked coyote attack.

A woman was resting in her backyard when a coyote bit her on the knee. She required treatment at a hospital.

“City of Burlington Animal Services staff have been conducting ongoing joint operations with the Halton Regional Police Service and the Certified Wildlife Control Professional in the areas of attack to track down and eliminate the coyotes,” the city said in a release.

“Residents may see this multi-agency taskforce in their neighbourhood, and it is critical that residents do not interfere with these operations. Due to the fluidity of the situation, it may not always be possible for residents to be notified of the operations occurring in the surrounding community.”

The city says it doesn’t want crowds to scare off coyotes as they are being tracked.

The city blames the problem on people feeding the animals.

“When people feed coyotes, intentionally or unintentionally, coyotes become familiar with humans, are no longer afraid of humans and show more and more aggressive behaviour, as is happening now in south-central Burlington,” the city said.

'Unprovoked attacks'. Its a wild animal. How fucking soft is Canada becoming?? If you guys lived in Florida, you wouldn't leave your house ever.

Humans provoked by moving into their space. Attacks will happen. Move on. Keep ur children close by. Be smart and not a fucking idiot being all sheltered. Learn to run. Your ancestors used to run from all sorts of massive beasts that were scattered everywhere.

Dont let your 10 year old walk a little ass dog alone. Which idiot parents even think its safe in any context. Dog snatching, child snatching, creeps, wild animals are all real threats.

Also, why the fuck are the coyotes being killed and not relocated. So soft this country has become. Espcecially GTA area.

Do you live in Ontario? If so, move on. Don’t like the “soft” people here? Move on.

You are being soft by bitching, aren’t you?

He has a point though, these animals shouldnt be living amongst humans in the GTA, especially around kids or toddlers.
Its just a matter of time until some kid gets severely injured, or killed.
I can see that coming from a mile away

Yup. That is what happens. What are you going to do? Around up all the animals in a 50km radius of people and cities? No.

Are you going to move cities to unpopulated areas? No.

I mean based on what he said, no one should go out but they are soft if they don’t. LOL. See how he does that there?

So him calling people “soft” is nothing more then a bitchfest with insults and nothing at all constructive. So to me, seems a little soft to bitch on a review board about people when you can’t and won’t say it to anyone in power, when you won’t stand up and do anything. Seem soft to me. Just my opinion. Take it or leave it. Couldn’t care less really.

Here's the ironic thing, if there were a group of wild German Sheppards roaming the streets of Toronto periodically biting or attacking people, that clan of dogs would be rounded up immediately and exterminated. But because these are coyotes and the government is on some weird re-introduction prgram, its somehow completely tolerated to have these wild animals roam free throughout Toronto

Fucking insane!!

Do you have a link to some government official saying it is ok for these animals to roam and bite people? That they are not going to do anything or about this “program”?

Oh and where anyone said or implied and have done in the past - gathering and Exterminating dogs?

Just because I know they didn’t do that with pit bulls. They just banned the breeding. Big difference between what you say would happen and what has happened in the past.

But they are culling them. Halton region has already 'destroyed' 5 coyotes this summer.

Nope..i will stay in toronto. Thanks for the offer.

You need a permit to hunt these pests: https://www.google.ca/search?as_q=h...ch=&as_occt=any&safe=images&as_filetype=&tbs=

Also in some parts of Ontario they made it illegal to hunt Coyotes: https://www.realagriculture.com/2016/09/ontario-bans-coyote-trapping-hunting-in-40-municipalities/

This has led to an overflow of Coyotes throughout Southern Ontario, there never used to be this many in the GTA.
Another problem is people feeding them. That means many have lost their fear for humans

That is not what I asked for.

You said that they have a “reintroduction” program. Not a hunting program. I asked for a link to the some government official promoting a reintroduction program. Please provide that.

You also said that German Shepard’s or any dog I assume would be rounded up and exterminated? Please provide proof of that as well since we all know that when pit bulls where an issue, they never did anything like you suggest.

So please stay on the topics you started and made claims about and then provide the proof. Thanks.
