The pet population, especially dogs, has exploded in the GTA. Millennials feel incomplete without a dog it seems. More Coyote food on the leash.

Nothing that 20 or 30 BB gun pellets can't take care of
The coyote would most likely run after the first ping and only annoy it. A 177 pellet might hurt a skunk or raccoon but not a coyote. It might run away or might run at you . Not good. A 223 or a 9mm would work better at range. Short range a 3 1/2 inch 12 Gauge magnum with 00 load should suffice.

Probably the same idiots who feed pigeons.
Oh my god speaking of Pigeons theres this cute little lady id say shes 80 this is when i'm in Toronto she walks with her walker over to the Tim Hortons and she throws handfuls of bird seed so the pigeons are there waiting for her every morning and then the entire area is full of shit. I do not have the heart to say anything to her infact no one says anything to her about it. I just think she loves birds and doesn't realize how dirty the area has become because of this morning feeding frenzy ugh

Apparently there's some woman in the neibourhood that's feeding the beasts cheese and meat. She must have money to throw... Cheese?
There is something missing in the lives of some women north of 50 years old.
1) They feed pigeons so they can poop on your car.
2) They "rescue" stray cats until there are over 300 in her house.
3) Now they are feeding coyotes.

anywhere i want;)
Don't feed them, don't go near them and don't touch them. If they touch you, get rabies shots immediately.

"Treatment involves administration of post-exposure rabies shots as soon as the person is exposed to the virus, once the signs and symptoms manifest no effective treatment is available"
Coyote attacks dog, chases girl on morning walk in Scarborough - CityNews Toronto
Thank God the little girl and the dog is ok .

Coyotes are being more common to see around neighborhoods nowadays.

I once seen one outside of one of the hotels I go to. It was probably 9 pm and I was walking to the store. As soon as I came out the back door it appeared from the bushes and was maybe about 15 - 20 feet from me. I froze. I didn't move and I was too scared to make a sound. Luckily for me it turned its head and I was able to make a quick getaway back inside.

It was quite the experience.

You got to be careful because even if you report it the city will not do anything.

Of course, the city must consider coyote 's rights and welfare. We could very easily trap and get rid of them either by moving or killing the pests. But, then we'd get a whole lot of busy bodies crying and protesting. So, as usual, the city is doing nothing until something tragic happens. Anyway, you're a pretty little lady and you should carry Mace or bear spray- not only for coyotes...

The coyotes in Stanley Park are smaller in stature, jaw and skull size than the coyowolf hybrids that have become a fixture in the GTA.
The coyotes in Stanley Park are insulated from coywolves by urban sprawl. If you should encounter a coywolf, a BB gun does nothing, you'll only be pissing it off. Evolution as work, animals evolve to fit into niches created by humans.

Pigeon guano is full of nitrogen and phosphates, makes excellent fertilizer...no so good on car paint.

Colonel Bat Guano defender of capitalism!

I see 2-3 roaming my neighborhood on a regular basis. They are not afraid of people and I've witnessed mothers with strollers seeing them and turning right around and going the other way.

I would be more than happy to take care of them but unfortunately would probably be locked up for it. A couple rounds of .22 would do the job

However accidents do happen, and I will be devastated when one of these days they end up under the wheels of my truck

I'm way more wary of the 2 legged animals out there than any coyote. I'm not aware of anyone being killed or even injured by a coyote in Toronto.

On the other hand those 2 legged animals are well known killers.

The day is coming soon when one of these coyowolf hybrids attack the ” right ” person‘s dog, cat or kid which will result in a politicians ordering.cull. These animals are incompatible with urban life.
I knew that the coyowolf would be put down swiftly if it was on the attack in an affluent area.. The politicians and police don’t fuck around with certain people do they. Now when they were on the attack in Scarborough, chasing down a little girl and her dog and biting other people, especially the radiocollared coyowolf, this was tolerated for weeks unlike just 24 hours until a police snipper took aim from a roof top.

Don’t turn your back and run.
Stand tall and make noise.
Stupid kid brought it upon herself.
At least she wasn’t hurt.
Why call a child STUPID because she was unaware of what to do? If you are not TAUGHT something how are you supposed to KNOW something??

I happened to be around mid-town earlier this afternoon and saw an "animal control" van. They were looking for a coyote that was hanging around the neighbourhood.

I had a brief chat with one of the neighbours and she said her daughter also saw a coyote on the UofT campus. Yeah, yeah, I know there are a lot of strange beasts hanging around the UofT.
