Phil: that looks like a hybrid with a lot of dog genes in the mix.

Coyotes are scraggly things and this time of year do not look that healthy.

They are semi starving hanging on awaiting the spring snow melt when they can then start to chow down on field mice

It looks healthy because stupid people keep feeding them !!!

Why the hell can't they just be relocated ?!?!?! It's unbelievable that now children can't play in the school yard.

I think the "thinking" is that they won't survive in unfamiliar territory.

Some people also think this is their land and they have every right to be here because we are the intruders.

I agree and you are squandering an opportunity to catch him by removing his food source. Don't send out all the kids - but that noisy brat that causes problems in class might be of use ...

Bait !!! Just one day and the problem is solved ... maybe even both of them. (y)

This is getting ridiculous.
Ontario Wildlife Act says you cant even trap and relocate coyotes anymore.
Now people are stuck inside their houses

It depends on the area in the GTA where coywolfs find themselves as to how they are tolerated. A few summers ago in Scarborough coywolfs, some with radio collars were allowed to menace some neighborhoods, chasing a little girl and multilated her little dog and attacking a morning gardener with the police and wildlife officers posting signs
advising that the animals were harmless. Yet coywolfs that were seen around the affluent areas of Bayview and York Mills and Sheppard were immediately shot by police tactical snippers on school roof tops within 24 hours with no issue.

These is a coywolf, a hybrid with up to 30% to 40 % red wolf gene, resulting in a bigger animal than the traditional smaller and scrawny prairie coyotes.
These hybrids have adopted well to urban life and sufficient amounts of Torontonians continue to feed them as well.
Coywolfs generally know to avoid venturing out of the GTA further north were wolf packs prey on them.
