Has anyone has experience with these airtags , do they work for tracking if you installed one on your car and it gets stolen ?

I had read that car thieves were hiding them on cars at malls etc and follow them home and then steal the car .

They have a maximum range of 33 ft. which makes them useless for tracking a vehicle.

True but the 3 carjackings on Wednesday were; a Lexus IS 250 (nice car but it's their entry model), Toyota RAV4, and Toyota Corolla. Not exactly high end vehicles.

Maybe we should be allowed to carry guns to thwart these thieves.

We can build a space station to track the movement of a mouse at night and yet they cannot track new vehicles equipped with electronics? Something does not add up.
They will have 3 guns pointed at you when they rob you. These guys are part of some organized mobs that work in groups. The cars are mostly eventually shipped abroad.

Very true.
But what i find strange, like in Mitch Marner's situation, his Range Rover should have an app which can locate where the vehicle is at anytime?
Not sure how range rovers work. But I know in BMW you had to pay for a separate system like Boomerang. They hide the gps unit deep inside your car which allows them to track the car if you report it stolen.

RAV4 and Corollas are in big demand. These are quality lower end models that will fetch a good price in former USSR countries, Africa and South America. The luxury cars from lower end Lexus IS to higher end Mercedes and BMW sell well. Any way you look at it the thieving scum can make $10k for a Corolla and $25k - $30k at the higher end.

The thieving scum of the earth have been starving for two years and have just crawled out of their holes and need to make some money. The drug dealers are killing each other over territory. The criminals at the lower end of the food chain can earn $1k - 2k snatching a car.
